I'd say the vast majority in Europe is in denial. Though I would say that in eastern Europe it is somewhat less as they still recall the Soviet occupation. But in western Europe the levels of denial are amazing, especially in France and Germany. And here in Netherlands too.
Thats ok I have nothing against you criticizing your own people next time quantify your statement, when talking to Americans as Europe means my country as well.
Even the interviewee doesn't get it, and dutifully recited the 'genocide in Europe' lie about the Wars of the Yugoslav Dissolution. Bussing out the women and children, fighting a fierce battle, and summarily executing surviving enemy fighters--arguably traitors all in the contexts of a civil war (probably killing 5000 or fewer between the fighting and summary executions, not 8000) as happened at Srebrencia does not constitute genocide. (The 8000 is rounded up from the war-time estimate of 7500, and the ICRC reported 2500 men and boys left Srebrenica before it was overrun--also about 3000 of the 'missing, presumed murdered' registered for municipal elections after the war.) All the other genocide tales told against the Serbs have proven even more baseless.
Clausewitz observed that in the long-run total war is more merciful than half-measures in war. The Serbs understood this and had memories form their grandparents of the Turkocratia, and their parents of the Muslim SS divisions to spur them on. We and Europe had better remember that soon, hopefully before Europe endures Islamic domination, or any more mass-casualty attacks are inflicted on us or them.
