Ultimately, this Senate immigration deal appears to fail the first test: Border Security. Because as I've said, and as many others agree, without first securing our borders, not even the best intentions will result in resolution of our illegal alien crisis.
The test for effective reform is straightforward: Congress and the president cannot reform immigration if the federal government cannot control it, and the federal government cannot control immigration unless it first secures our borders and our ports.
Any legislation that fails to meet those tests will only worsen what is already a crisis.
What if Congress is underestimating the number of illegal aliens by half? A Bear Stearns study last year projects there are as many as 20 million illegal aliens living in the United States, depressing wages for U.S. citizens and draining local, state and federal budgets of much-needed funds for education, health care and social services.

Very good points...
Welcome!
Dobbs for Secy of the Treasury.
He's been reading them on the air.
He has too much common sense and would probably never be considered for a govt. job.
I agree.
Dobbs needs a lot of support and more viewers.
I will always vote, but I may not vote Republican.
He's out of control. I don't understand his actions.
and a foreigner cannot own waterfront property -- it really says that, Rush read off the list on Wednesday.
A foreigner in Mexico cannot own property withing 80 miles of the border including ocean borders....
So did I. Have you heard his commercials for Santorum?
"He still hasn't figured it out that outsourcing IS GOOD."
Huh? Outsourcing good? Looks as if the poster hasn't figured out that outsourcing is killing the American standard of living.
Minute Men sign at the border.
Lou Dobbs with the Minute Men.
I live in a retirement area in Mesa, AZ. The other day I saw landscapers (read lawn service) truck go by the house. There were three guys in the back. Two anglos and one hispanic. Down the street they went and stopped at a house 2 doors up. All 4, driver (anglo) included were working in the yard.
Later I went to a Taco bell. The guy cleaning the bathrooms was anglo and the counter staff were non-english speaking hispanics.
Every where I go, I see a mix of anglos and hispanics doing identical jobs for presumably identical pay.
Who says mexs are doing jobs that anglos won't do?
Bull Boulders!! WE are being taken for mushrooms. The government keeps us in the dark and feeds us BS!
I used to watch then switched to Brit all the time and now back to Lou, especially since the round table guys are so depressingly out of touch with reality when it comes to the American citizens.
