" A family in Maynard is outraged after their 5-year-old daughter was forced to write a letter denouncing hugging after a classmate embraced her."
"NewsCenter 5's Amalia Barreda reported that Brenda Brier and Michael Marino pulled their daughter, Savannah, out of school early Wednesday. The couple was angry after a meeting with officials at the Greenmeadow Elementary School in Maynard, where Savannah is in kindergarten."
"At issue is a hug Savannah said she got on the playground from a friend named Sophie. Savannah hugged Sophie back. The hugs resulted in Savannah having to write a letter, complete with teacher corrections, that read, "I touch Sophie because she touch me and I didn't like it because she was hugging me. I didn't like when she hugged me."
"She said, 'I'm really sad that I got in trouble for hugging,'" Brier said."

But, if this little girl forced to write an apology was trying to hurt the little girl named SophieOoooh! Malicious hugging.
She might become known as: "The Boston Hugger".

Thanks to feminist movement, the ACLU, leftists and Political Correctness, we are now neck deep in IDIOCY from which there is no escape.
It will take a REVOLUTION of biblical proportions to return to sane, rational thought and common sense behaviour.

In NJ two little six year olds were taken to the police station to await pick up by their parents after pointing chicken fingers at each other in the cafeteria. They were pretending to shoot. The schools are out of control Here's one for you then...
When my son was in third grade, his teacher made him write an apology letter to another student. It seems that on the playground on a sunny day, my son had the gall to say to the kid's SHADOW: "Hi Midget". The actual child, and not his shadow, laughed. However, his teacher heard and reported it to my son's teacher, who then had my son write the apology.
WHen the teacher called me and reported this to me, I asked her, shocked, "Are you telling me my son had to write a letter of apology to another third grader for saying "Hi Midget" to a shadow?"
Well, yes..it seems (and right out of the teacher's mouth)...the kid's parents could find out, and there might be a lawsuit.

What? No pink triangle safe zone for these two tots?
Maybe little Sophie was sharing something inappropriate (sad day when one might think a 5-year-old has learned to be a perv), and Savannah was just paying her back by squeezing the [blank] out of her.
If that's the case, a forced apology is even more obnoxious.

Will this little girl ever think of a hug as an expression of affection again? The school board robbed her of something very innocent!

Thank God I live in a very conservative county. My daughter now 10 has been a huggy bear since she was able to. Her teachers have always enjoyed her hugs and have encouraged her to show more of her sincerity, especially when she was very young and shy. It helped her tremendously and her classmates alway get a kick out of her mom and dad's notes we sent to her during the day when she may have forgotten something. Almost as if they could be the same way or had parents that would allow them to.
Just the other day she forgot her water bottle. I had the time to deliver to the school (along with a note, 'love mommy') and although she got ribbed for the note (she's in 5th grade now) most of the kids said that that is exactly what their mom or dad would write.
God I love kids!

You're right. They call it projection.
However, we can also call it the blindness of degeneracy. As an earlier poster noted, it's fine to teach kindergartner's about rubbers and safe sex, and 6th graders about oral sex. But a friendly hug between friends is verboten.
We really, really need to deafened government-run education. 100% voucher refunds to whomever requests it.

OMG! I suppose I'll have to write a letter denouncing hugging too. I admit it. I hugged several students while congratulating them on getting a "I" at UIL contest yesterday. Oh, and they hugged me too!!! Can't say who hugged whom first (probably my kid first, though can't be sure), but the act was done. I even shook hands with one of their teachers and patted a second teacher and the principal (in front of his wife) on the shoulder. For shame It is sad when it has come to this. When I was young I was the huggy type. I remember often hugging my 7th grade choir teacher and thinking nothing of it. (Oh shock! I know, he was a man!) If it were these days instead he would be considered a perv and probably lose his job. And they wonder why children have self esteem problems.

This kind of stuff really, really ticks me off.
Everything human touch is to be understood as sexual. Human decency and warmth will not be tolerated, but anonymous hooking up is normal and doesn't hurt a soul.
Unbelievably heart breaking.
