Outgoing associate editor Matt Welch has just taken a job as assistant editor of the Los Angeles Times editorial page. Goes to the dark side, he does, and then disparges the Jedi.

Yes, to the dark side.
Not only is this whole column disingenuous, it's confusing and badly written. He's going to have to do a whole lot better if he wants to lie for the MSM.
It reminds me of what's his name, who left the American Spectator, came out of the closet, and switched sides back in the clinton era.
I should remember his name, but he hasn't done a damned thing worth remembering since he came out of the closet. Funny about that. But no doubt he was well paid.

Mostly by confusing what Id like to see with what was actually happening. September 11 did indeed lay a linebacker-style hit on many peoples political views (including my own, to a degree), opening them up to formerly incompatible or simply unknown ideas and thinkers. Meaning of course, that he and a few other liberals stepped out into the light for a few weeks, then went back to their America hating ways.

ReasonOnLine's loss is the LATimes'...loss. If his normal writing was such tripe, maybe he was actually fired. The LATimes can use a man like this.

Is he complaining that people take sides?
What did he expect?

I see no reason to read Reason.
Am I shocked that they attacked Michelle Malkin? No, I am not. Bunch of liberal-tarian nincompoops.

is it true she was proven largely wrong and her theory irrelevant.I don't know, Matt Welch only said it was true... at least one example might have supported his statement. Instead he cited someone he claimed was an expert.

Geez, I just realized something: 9/11 didn't change a single thing in my mind.
I guess I AM a major league Pessimist after all....

it's confusingGlad someone else thought so. The article reminds me of a Rube Goldberg contraption.

Wow....it's the Al Gore of the blog.
Whoopee s**t.
I always wondered who invented the blog, now I know.
And with Algorish arrogance, he proceeds to denigrate all of the lesser Philistines who have spoiled his party.
F**K him!!!.

I am interested in what he said about Malkin...Yeah, so am I; I hadn't heard anything about that. Of course, my gut-level is to call "BS" as the author provides no source for his assertion that she was thoroughly debunked, giving only the name "Eric L. Muller". Well, Mr. Muller, it turns out is "George R. Ward Professor at the University of North Carolina School of Law" and has seen pleny of print. I haven't fully assessed his angle on the world, but you can peruse his review of Thomas Woods' "Politically Incorrect Guid to American History" and draw your own conclusions.

Here is an Essay Mr Muller wrote in late 2001... all worried about how the reaction to 9-11 was anti-arab and anti-muslim lashing out. Defacing of mosques and whatnot...
Here is his closer
Sadly, the anti-Arab and anti-Muslim incidents of the last few days have shown that Americans are no less susceptible to racist fear than we were after the tragedy at Pearl Harbor. The situation of Arab Americans is, however, different from that of the Japanese Americans during World War II, and we live in a different legal world as well. Let us hope that we are in a better position to hear, and to heed, our Attorney General's sensible words of restraint today than we were in 1941.

Take it for what its worth, and what his 'tearing to shreds' of Michelle's book might have consisted of.
