Aw....come on....if we toss out all the Mexicans, who's gonna marry the fat girls?

Oooh Charley, How can you say that with a straight face? You one funny guy you! Insensitive, unfeeling, not PC but funny as hell! Thanks for that!

I really wish I could take full credit for it, but since the guy who told me that is named Romero, I guess it's OK to pass it along in this context.

Actually, I was paraphrasing. What he really said was: "We only let the Mojados come here so the fat girls can get laid too".

I figure since he was born here, and his family has been in Northern NM for 300-400 years, he can say whatever he wants to on this subject.

...for we are all immigrants

Man...I just hate this shallow, misleading statement.

We are NOT all immigrants. By definition, if you're born in a given country and choose to live there, you are not a migrant, but a native of the country of your birth. This is true no matter where your parents, grandparents or more distant ancestors were born.

Assuming our understanding of human pre-history is correct, we are a migratory species that began moving out of Africa some 200,000 years ago. So the ancesters of all humans on the planet today migrated from somewhere else.

However, as nations and the concept of citizenship evolved, people began identifying themselves by the place they were born. So in ancient times we had Babylonians, Athenians, Judeans, Egyptians, Romans, etc., eventually evolving into the modern nations and nationalities (as distinguished from ethnicities) of today.

Even if our parents were born in another country, a person born in the United States of America is a native American, and not a migrant. So no, we are not all immigrants.

Hi al_again:

Here’s a scenario for you to consider, just for the heck of it:

The economic situation in the northeastern part of the United States is admittedly an on/off sort of thing with not a whole lot of predictability here in Connecticut and all, so....

The next time we experience a downturn in the economy here, I’m going to pack up my family and move them into your backyard. No, I mean your backyard – at YOUR house. I figure we’ll pitch a tent and set up housekeeping. Latrines will be dug as close as possible to the street to minimize odors. Mind you, I’m not asking for permission or your blessing – just letting you know how it’s going to be.

Oh sure, we’ll be trespassing and all, but I know that won’t bother you a bit. You see, I’m in construction and I’m a hard worker (although admittedly Anglo-Saxon, I’m afraid – I hope that doesn’t count against me in your eyes) and will allow you to hire me in such a manner as you make out pretty good overall.

I feel pretty safe about all this because I know you won’t report me to the authorities for my trespassing. Because, and I stress this point, it will be good for the bottomline of your business and you feel that I also have lots of inalienable rights.

Now, I’ve got quite a few brothers and sisters and nephews and nieces and aunts and uncles and cousins who are also going to be relocating with me. Times are hard for them too, you know.

Oh, don’t fret. I realize that the whole extended family probably won’t fit in your backyard, so not to worry. No, the others will just move into your neighbors' backyards and set-up camp.

Some of my relatives are really hard workers too, so maybe you can manage to employ them all? Of course, some of them are a bit lazy and shiftless, so forget offering them a job. Some are not capable of working because of age or physical ailments, or taking care of lots of kids. Hell, some of them are even gang members and outright criminals. They do enjoy the Florida weather you've got down there.

But I’m not worried or concerned about them. You see, I know that you and your neighbors will take care of us. Those of us who aren’t capable of working or just don’t want to… well, we know that you and your neighbors will foot the bill for us, and happily, too.

So here’s a starter list of things we will need; please remember things like free medical care, free schooling, free food and housing – you get the idea.

Don’t worry about automobile insurance though, we certainly won’t. If we should happen to trash somebody’s car, property, body, etc., well...que sera sera. It’s not like we meant to hit you. Do you know what insurance costs these days? I've got to travel to my job that Americans workers don't want to work! Sheesh!

Don’t think we won’t be grateful, though. When enough of us live in the backyards all around your neighborhood, we’re going to make sure we vote whenever possible. We’ll see to it that politicians willing to sell their souls for votes hear our voices. Then you’ll truly see gratitude. Forget this backyard nonsense, you’ve got this nice, big warm and dry house. We’ll just move in to one or two of those bedrooms you’ve been selfishly occupying. If that bothers you that much, well… move along. What? Are you prejudiced against us or something?

We might even wind up allowing you to stay in your own neighborhood. Then again, we may just drape ourselves in the Connecticut flag and march in great numbers through your town demanding our rights to what is yours. It’s not like that concept is without precedent.

Hope that helps,

~ Blue Jays ~

Looks like they left out a couple of things: Throw (knowing) employers of illegals in prison, and ENFORCE existing immigration laws.

Have either one of you ever eaten lettuce or fruit or chicken? or stayed in a hotel, or gotten your roof fixed, or ate at a restaurant?

If you have then you are complicit in helping illegal immigrants! You are aiding and abetting criminals. I hope you both turn yourselves in to the police right away.

I also have a banking account. Does that mean I support bank robbers?

I have a car, does that mean I support car thieves?

I also have bleach in my home, does that mean I support meth labs?

I also have a dog, does that mean I support dog fights?

The analogies you provided is a fallacy of logic. Denied, resubmit in 30 days!

Rush read off the immigration laws today -- for Mexico!! Very enlightening and shows what a double standard we have here with all the illegals' demands for rights here.

It's not really fair to fine employers of illegals. The government is giving illegals lots of stuff: medical care, in-state tuition, etc. At least the employers are getting something in return...labor. If and when the government becomes serious about enforcing the border and stopping illegals, then we can talk about fining employers. But right now, it's all a connected. No one wants to stop illegals, except the taxpayers. Unfortunately, only about one-half of citizens are even paying income taxes anymore.

No, not at all. You know that in most restaurants - at least if you work in a big city as I do, that the kitchen help is illegal. If you eat there, aren't you helpint the illegals if you eat there and don't report it?

So, how could we expect Congress to help? They too, are theives. They make rules for us to live by, that don't apply to themselves. They take our money from us to pay themselves for their "service" to us. And on top of that, they've voted themselves massive pay raises and retirement benefits at our expense. So, who would you expect them to help? The American Citizens or their fellow criminals?

If the whores in Washington insist on giving amnesty to illegal non-citizens.......how about giving the same privilage to American Citizens? How about we all get to pick which particular law we choose to break, and then are granted amnesty for it? Sounds like a fair deal to me.....

As long as we are going after the employers (which isn't a bad idea IMHO) why not fine banks who do transfers of money by illegals to persons outside the US also?

That sounds like fun. I'll have to think which law I want to break. Felonies or just misdemeanors?

BUMP!

Exact a serious price for illegal immigration.
Any change in the law could allow a 30-day exit amnesty for illegals residing here – time enough to pack up, go home, and apply for legal residence status and legal entry into this country.
Beyond that, make illegal entry or residing here illegally a felony that bars the individual from ever becoming an American citizen.
Those who are truly interested in citizenship and assimilation will make the trip.
Cut off all public assistance to illegals and their children. Provide them with a Homeland Security charter bus ticket home. Prosecute public employees who provide such assistance for theft of taxpayer monies, fire them, and put them in jail.
Put the National Guard and the Army on the U.S.-Mexican border until we can technologically secure it. Give the tools and the mission to commanders. Treat it as the military mission that it is.
Apply tax and trade sanctions against companies shipping goods from Mexico if Mexican officials do not begin cooperating with our efforts to secure our borders.
Provide biometric identification to visitors and legal resident aliens, and make verification available to schools, public agencies, police and employers.
Make sure no illegal ever votes in a federal, state or local election. This will reduce pandering by elected officeholders.

No more amnesty. No more misguided compassion. Let's roll out the red carpet for those who want to become Americans, and roll up the drawbridge on the rest of them, before they burn down the castle.

Hi al_again:

My post is in regard to why our society can't permit unlimited illegal immigration into this wonderful country. We often see Natural Law and concepts like that tossed around when FReepers are discussing rights...and at the same time we have a country that we simply MUST secure.

Thanks for the ping to this, upchuck. I don't see many of our politicians with the cajones to actually follow any of the suggestions in this article.
