Ordered to give up his keys, an Arlington man takes matters into his own hands.
MARYSVILLE - The would-be robber made threats and demanded keys to a van. The van's owner was having a rough day already. The bad guy ended up with a fist in the face and a trip to jail. "The suspect attempted to rob the wrong guy and got more than he could handle," Marysville police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said Wednesday. An Arlington contractor was the wrong guy. The man, 39, requested that The Herald identify him only by his first name to protect his family. John and his wife were leaving the All City Credit Union on Tuesday when the suspect approached them and asked if they had a vehicle, police said. John pointed to his van. He thought the man may have backed into it in the parking lot. "He told me to give him the keys or he was going to kill me," John said. John moved his wife back. "Give it a shot," he told the would-be robber. The man, 39, swung at John and missed. John didn't. He hit the man. More than once. He said he wanted to make sure the stranger didn't get up and make good on his threat to hurt him or his wife, who is recovering from a recent heart attack. "I don't advise anyone to do what I did. It could have turned real nasty real quick," John said. "If he would have had a weapon, I would have handed over my keys." Bystanders urged the men to quit fighting. John stopped. He was floored when the man reached out to shake his hand. "He said he hadn't had his (expletive) kicked that good in a while,"

until the perp's lawyer sues the victim for medical bills.
Yep, there are some days when you just HOPE somebody wants some.
This punk picked the wrong day.
The suspect fought with corrections officers at the jail and was doused with pepper spray, police said.
Dude's got problems ... like he enjoys getting thumped.
I would have told the bystanders to STFU and continued to make sure he couldn't get up.
Yep! Yesterday, and Tuesday. Not this past monday, and not yet today, though. Too bad out here, punks trying tocarjack me are few and far between. I'd love to stomp on a throat some days, in self defense, of course.
...the devil bowed his head because he knew that he'd been beat. He laid that golden fiddle on the ground at Johnny's feet. He'd surely go to prison now, forced to play with some guy's meat.
Seriously. I would've ran over and given him a swift kick to the head.
Thanks for kicking my butt....
Hopefully this experience will teach John and his wife to arm themselves. Just think how much money they could have saved taxpayers by finishing the job.
"I prayed for the guy last night," John said. "I think he needs help. Hopefully he gets it and he can turn his life around."
I hope he gets to share his cell with a 300 lb goon named Bubba.
Idiot "bystanders"!
sniffle, sniffle.....gosh guys, I just love a good story with a happy ending.
be careful- you dont know what the 'bystanders' saw
I walked into the midddle of a fight last month when an old guy was kicking the crap out of a couple of young punks- he had one down and I told him if he injured him any further I would testify against him as a witness- he calmed down.
it turns out the old guy was attacked by the two young punks -it was not the old guys fault (tough old guy too!!!)- I apologized for yelling at him but he agreed I had not seen the beginning and I was right that he could have hurt the kid past the point of self-defense and gotten into trouble if I hadn't stopped him...
The Kennedy-Feinstein Fist Control Act of 2006 is alredy being drafted by eager staffers. ;)
For those who haven't seen it, rent "A History of Violence." It's an excellent film about a guy trying to live a quiet life who has to deal with his violent past.
Not for kids or those who are squeamish about sex in movies, but a movie that will make sense to many.
The guy probably used to live in San Francisco where he had to pay to get rough treatment. Now he's found a way to get it for free.
This beggs for the old Clint line:" Go ahead kid, make my day".
