When something goes wrong with software, or the computer starts to slows down, I can usually fix it with Norton or Registry Fix. But when hardware fails, I have to run the white flag up, and get help.

It's the same with most of us although I've seen a lot of them here talk about building their own computers, lol.

We're the only dirt road folks who even fly the flag.

I stumbled and did build my first computer. Talk about being limited. It had an 8088 processor, MS DOS, 8K memory, 20MB hard drive, with 31/2 and 51/4 floppy drives. I must admit, I was surprised the dumb thing worked on the first try. That didn't last very long, before I got into a much larger computer. Look how far we've come in such a short period of time.

Good for you! Even a "Building Computers for Dummies" book wouldn't help me, lol.

Maybe I titled that book wrong...or maybe right!

You're doing just fine. Most of what goes wrong with these machines can be fixed with common sense. Some of Norton's fix-it tools will work the same if you can just get to your C:\ prompt, and then use DOS commands. Windows is suppose to have all the necessary files to fix these machines, It's locating where they live that's difficult.

Oh, I've got pretty good at fixing a lot of things, sometimes I'm amazed. I got my pager working again last week. I think I've looked in everything in this computer but don't touch what I don't know about!

See, LOL, I could tell that one of these wasn't going to get the best of Potlatch.

You are welcome! I've been thinking, perhaps LULAC has just got some bad press in the past. They are fairly prominent where I live and I'd be willing to call
'em up and speak with them, if I had a script just to learn from [don't want to take the wrong approach, you know!]

What a flag-fabulous thread! Bookmarked. I will share some of my "flag-pledges" that I have used at the Finest this past year.
