NASCAR has a contract with NBC. I believe they have to honor it. However, this is the last year of that contract.
I hope that NASCAR seeks out another network for its broadcasts next year.

I'm sure the contract requires NBC to protect the value of the product. They may very well be in violation of the contract by these actions, or perhaps by not airing it they have dodged the bullet.
