I hope you are right -- but I have zero confidence the House will hold firm. Boehner, who replaced DeLay, voted against the Sensenbrenner bill the first time (one of 17 GOPers to do so) and Hastert has said he's for guest worker programs. If the White House pushes, I doubt more than 80 of the GOP folks will hold firm. I hope you are right and I am wrong, believe me!
And I worked to get a conservative majority. My first vote in 1976 was for Reagan in the Reagan-Ford primary -- I didn't join the GOP to side with the Fords of the world! Right now if there was an even half-way viable third party, I'd join it.

I hope the House holds firm, but I don't see it either. I also voted for Reagan the first time I was able to vote, and have been a loyal Republican voter up and down the ticket since 1980. That will end if amnesty in any form passes. I've had enough. Today, I'm ashamed to be a Republican, and I never thought I'd say that.

Third party=Hillary. The opium of fear that gives Bush/Rove the license to do whatever they like, regardless of the base's opinions.
Don't like it? You get Hillary.
It's like being held hostage.
