"Right now if there was an even half-way viable third party, I'd join it."

Third party=Hillary. The opium of fear that gives Bush/Rove the license to do whatever they like, regardless of the base's opinions.

Don't like it? You get Hillary.

It's like being held hostage.

THEN I'LL GET HILLARY! I prefer my enemy to the front, not the rear. 2004 is the absolute last election I will vote to stop a democrat. Immigration reformers should take a page from the pro-lifers: they don't care if a dem gets into office, you either vote pro-life or they don't support you. That means almost all GOPers are pro-life, because they can't win without the pro-lifers. Yes, the GOP will lose some elections. So what? If the only leverage you have over them is the ability to cost them elective office, then that's what you use. My days of being blackmailed by Rove et all are over.

Sometimes you have to take one step back to take 10 steps forward. We took one step back in 1976 when Jimmy Carter was elected but it paved the way to take 100 steps forward in 1980 with Reagan.

If Ford had won in 1976, that whole wing of the Republican party would have continued for decades.
