IMHO, the best argument for that actually effects the employers. Instead of being guilty of a misdemeanor employing an 'undocumented worker'(sic) they would be guilty of aiding a felon. That will shut down the practice of hiring illegals really fast..
Now, is this the best solution.. not sure.. I think we should not try to lump all this as one bill, as many are demanding, and instead take it in steps (Kaizen).. plug the leak first, then deal with the spill..

I agree the church should not ask about the immigration status at Mass or at any other time. My point was I have zero respect for Mahoney. Even if guys like him say the right thing I can't bring myself to want to hear it. I was very hurt by the scandal. Won't go any farther since I don't want to upset you by opening old wounds.

Finally you have an excuse to do harm to the Catholic Church Where on earth did this thought come from. As a near convert to Catholicism, and a current member of the junior varsity, Episcopalianism, I have nothing but respect for the religion. Many of my friends on this Thread are Catholic and much of the ethics that survives in politics comes from Catholics on both sides of the spectrum. [Teddy Kennedy excepted.]
Having said that, I do not tolerate some of the lame brain talk that comes out of the mouths of PC priests. The priests that I grew up with would be embarrassed at the Left leaning of today's clergy.

"Regarding the wall, America would be the only country to do such a thing because America would be the only country in the world to need to do such a thing. In other words, getting to America is so desireable and attractive that they're literally swarming across the border. Nobody's swarming across the border to Nepal or Colombia or Luxembourg, so of course they don't have walls."
I agree w the basic intent of your comments, though part of the reason for us having a wall (whether brick and mortar or virtual) is for security reasons. There are a couple of countries that have or are considering walls:
Israel built a wall to secure their border against terrorists, I heard the other day that China is building a wall to keep the North Koreans out (too many coming across the border) - China may not be great, but, apparently better situations can be found for folks than what they have in No Korea, and, I read recently that another country is considering building a wall - - can't find the article right now.
There are also these, again, for security reasons:
India builds a 2,500-mile barrier to rival the Great Wall of China

Villagers on the Bangladesh border say the fence will cut them from their homeland TO REACH the baked earth of his mustard field each day, Mohammed Safiqual Biswas must pass coils of barbed wire and armed guards and show his identity card at a security check. The problem is not where Mr Biswas has come from, but where he is going to. His fields lie 60 miles east of Calcutta, right in the no mans land between India and Bangladesh. Next month India plans to fence off this area of West Bengal as part of a little-known £600 million project...

RUTBAH, Iraq (AP) - U.S. Marines used to patrol the streets of this city near the volatile Syrian border. Now they've penned it in with a wall of sand, leaving only three ways in or out. While causing discomfort to the townspeople, the military says it is an effective barrier to insurgents and frees up troops for use in other parts of restive Anbar province in western Iraq. The Marines ringed Rutbah with a 10.5-mile-long berm, seven feet high and 20 feet wide, in mid-January and reduced their presence to checkpoints at the three entrances that also are manned by...

I have a feeling she may either end up in private schools (where she teaches now) or KC with smaller groups or individual voice students at Kilgore College or ETBU..
She works best with small groups or individual lessons, plus, she isn't crazy about the TEA and so I doubt she'll be in public schools long..

This is a warp of the original story where Plame wasn't mentioned except by the reporter.. the original story was that it was regarding leaking parts of the National Intelligence Estimate, nothing to do with Plame.. It has been interesting to see this be twisted...
