1) we are not losing, we are no where near losing.
2) While Iraq is not what we would call stable, it is more stable this year than this time last year, according to the latest intelligence and pentagon reports.
3) More ordinary Iraqi civilians are coming forward with local intelligence allowing us to build up a more accurate intelligence picture.
5)We are taking out more of the bad guys and discovering more of there logistics and ammo caches because of the local intelligence picture.
I see no reason to jeopardies this war and to end up losing it because of bad tactics because some people at home feel all scared over rubbish that is printed on the Internet.
Thankfully your military is made of sterner stuff
I want to win this war, and win this war we will.
And I will tell you why because those fighting this war have the same attitude and experience as me of fighting insurgencies and terrorism in a host of countries, in the European, African as well as Middle Eastern theater..
SauronOfMordor if you want to talk about the Second World War then you should comapre Phase 4 of Japan,Germany Iraq, not phase 2 of Germany Japan, and Phase 4 of Iraq.
And for those not in the know
Phase 1 Build Up
Phase 2 Air War (Softening up)
Phase 3 Invasion Ground phase.
Phase 4) Occupation.
Phase 2 in Japan was designed to allow us to go straight to phase 4 without the cost of Phase 3.
>"Fear, Self-interest, and honor" would not so disturb the author that he couldn't write about it for three months. Personally, I don't think that three words exist that could live up to the hype the author created,..."<
-that's a good point. He mentions those three words several times though...

How about:
"Kill your Landlord!"
How about "Allah is Satan"?
Overly obvious to anyone who's been paying attention.
Damaged, I'd think, but not quite out of the picture. And with the Middle East the scene of the real devestation, following the Israeli/Islumist nuclear exchange, resulting in the survivors takeover and occupation of Europe [thus EurAbia] via their accomplices and foothold in the Balkans.
I posted it at a couple of websites popular with US military personnel serving in Iraq, among whom it's now spreading like wildfire.
What's so funny are the folks that read this particular moonbat web site....believe it!!!! Their tone toward Bush has done a 180 turn around. LOL
Mecca will be nuked, in'ch Allah!
No more than we were in Vietnam. I've spoken to a fella who was a fairly senior Soviet commander at the time, and it was not at all our military prowess that impressed them. And rightly so; eventually it brought down the wall in Berlin and the Red Flag over the Kremlin.
"Help me, Obi-wan Kenobi!"
I surer'n h-e-double-toothpicks would if'n I was one of them hinkeygraf thingies.
I call that a strange sentiment from the FReeper who carries the name and reputation of The Walkin' Dude.
Is this supposed to be a fictional piece or is this guy actually claiming some time traveler visited him?
I think the former, and it is an interesting piece.
Thought-provoking about what could happen if we don't take the fight seriously.
Huh?? There are 638 posts... you might want to look at them again.
It was written by a Hugo Award winning Science Fiction author.
I haven't seen any previous post suggest that anyone else thought a time traveler from a hundred years in the future actually visited a man that wrote about it as nonfiction.
Haven't ANY of you guys read Steve Hawking? On the edge of a singularity the possibilities are infinite, certainly encompassing any possibility with which the puny human mind can imagine. Anything. Everything.
Now clap your hands if you believe in Tinkerbell. She drank the poison meant for Peter, you know, and if you don't clap your hands to show her you believe in her, she'll die. You don't want her to die, do you? C'mon, clap your hands. What can it hurt- and it might save cute li'l Tinkerbell....
Something physically catastrophic for the US/planet Earth. This would satisfy all the conditions for the 3 words.
Not as allah wills, but as allah cannot prevent.
A sobering message, don't you think?
Every møøslimb will have to ask himself, if allah couldn't protect his most holy place[s] on earth, can he really be an all powerful god?
Can he protect me? My family? My tribe? Will he bother?
If you're gonna be THAT ruthless you don't need to nuke Mecca, you need to occupy it. Force the Muslims to take up arms, form armies and become concentrated targets for nukes, followed by mop ups from combined arms - taking no prisoners. Also hit their population centers.
Also need to occupy resource areas (i.e. oil fields) and exterminate or expel all potential enemies.
Don't think we can be the ruthless.
Can he protect me? My family? My tribe? Will he bother?
It's been considered. The question is, should we let them have a couple of airplane loads of pigs first, just so they know what's coming next.
Are you familiar with the term Jannisaries, the troops recruited from Christian communities used to control conquered populations? It was a term for the forces organized by Turkish Musselman Bey Murad I in the late 14th century, those occupation forces remaining effective until 1826, altogether about 450 years.
