What does anyone think about requiring immigrants to perform 2 years of military service to gain citizenship?

Not much.
Definitely not to make it a "requirement".
Any immigrant who has the desire to become a citizen quickly, and also the skillset and character required by the DOD, is not likely to become an "illegal" in the first place.

That very thing is what ended the Roman empire.

No I do not want to arm 11 million illegals and give them military training. Are you crazy?

At that instant, I would take my family and leave America.

If you make the Military Work that Mexicans Do, no one but Mexicans will do it. We will have a foreign standing army. A terrible terrible idea.

A foreign legion would not be such a good idea. I don't want radicals to be trained in how to kill.

I prefer thisaway:

Naturalization is the process by which U.S. citizenship is conferred upon a foreign citizen or national after he or she fulfills the requirements established by Congress in the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). The general requirements for administrative naturalization include:

* a period of continuous residence and physical presence in the United States;

* residence in a particular USCIS District prior to filing;

* an ability to read, write, and speak English;

* a knowledge and understanding of U.S. history and government;

* good moral character;

* attachment to the principles of the U.S. Constitution; and,

* favorable disposition toward the United States.

Only if compensatory english classes are also a requirement for them, and I would say 4 years of military service...active duty only.

No thanks. How am I supposed to lead someone who can't speak English? Good thought though. I think your intentions were good, but I just think it would be impossible.
