The measure does not call for new taxes but would require businesses that do not offer insurance to pay a $295 annual fee per employee. And there it is folks in living color. Just another way for government to take from one and give to another. It's not a fee it's a TAX!

Individuals deemed able but unwilling to purchase health care could face fines of more than $1,000 a year by the state if they don't get insurance
Welcome to the gulag.
My landlord doesn't carry health insurance. He pays cash, and probably saves alot in the long run. I would imagine there are alot of people who don't want to pay premiums.
My guess is this will have a detrimental effect on business, and employers will think twice about hiring that extra hand.

Mandatory coverage will soon spill over into requiring a list of ever-growing treatment mandates. Prices will increase. Young single men will have to pay for coverage which includes maternity care, young single women will be forced to pay for coverage which includes boner inducer pills, and someday, hairpieces.

I do not call for the execution of the traitors who have supported this bill but would require them to serve as test subjects for the latest model of the electric chair.

This is about socialism versus individual responsibility. There will never be enough taxpayers to pay for socialized medicine. It undermines freedom of choice, undermines private property rights, and sends a message to those who smoke, abuse alcohol, use illegal drugs, overeat, and never exercise, that the government (taxpayers) will provide "free" medical care. Got AIDS caused by homosexual sodomy? Your child is born with a birth defect due to your use of illegal drugs? Smoke a pack a day? Drink to excess? Don't worry, the government will take care of you. Apparently news of the failure of the USSR has not been reported in the Boston Globe.

The House approved the bill on a 154-2 vote. The Senate endorsed it 37-0. An unbelievable socialistic state of affairs...unbelievably. The great banner state of liberty from the 1770s is going down (and has been for a long time) a socialistic path which is nothing more than communism/marxism light and is intended to lead there.
John and Sam Adams, Paul Revere, and all those other patriots are surely turing over in their graves and hiding their faces in shame.
