April 4, 2006--In the race for Senate, Arizona Senator Jon Kyl (R) is maintaining and even slightly widening a big lead over real estate developer Jim Pederson (D), 56% to 33%.
Thus early predictions that Pederson's candidacy would make for a competitive contest aren't being borne out. In January, Kyl led 53% to 34%; in December, he led 50% to 30%.
GOP voters award 91% support to Kyl. Pederson garners only 68% from Democrats. Kyl siphons off 18% of the Democratic vote, whereas Pederson can persuade only 5% of Republicans to join his own camp.

I don't get why anyone even ran against Kyl. It's definitely a safe seat.

Kyl's from Arizona? - Who knew? - during a hearing last week Teddy Kennedy referred to him as "the Senator from Kentucky" - and Teddy, like all 'rats, is never wrong /sarcasm......
To: bybybill
I wish we had 99 more of him.
Imagine that chorus...lol.

Great to see a tough on illegal alien politician reaping political benefits. Should stiffen the spine of some wobbly Republicans out there.

Good, although I never seriously thought Kyl's seat was in doubt.

"Jim Pederson (D)"
What a nudge.
Senator Kyl, in my view, is very presidential.
I'd love to see him pursue the race at some point. But his heart is a servant's heart, and he may opt to see his role as U.S. Senator through to retirement, rather than take on the bigger role.
My family and I really love John Kyl.

LOL --- they're all we can expect from the NE states. Pitiful, but true.
So let's settle for 70 Kyl's.
