Pelosi Fuming Over McKinney Debacle

House Democrats are fuming now that Cynthia McKinney's police assault case has stolen the spotlight from Republican troublles on Capitol Hill - and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is reportedly so mad at McKinney that she's no longer speaking to the Georgia Democrat.

"There’s been a lot of eye-rolling,” an aide to a moderate Democrat told the Hill newspaper on Tuesday, speaking on condition of anonymity. "The national attention it’s been getting has been unfortunate. It’s becoming a distraction.”

A Democratic strategist told the paper that McKinney's attempt to charge the police with racism is sure the backfire.

"This isn’t the view of Democrats that we want to project in the tough races, one of victims and race-baiting,” the strategist said.

Rep. McKinney and Rep. Pelosi "no longer speak" to each other, the Hill reports - "not even to exchange greetings when encountering each other in the Capitol hallways."

Even before McKinney's latest meltdown, Pelosi kept her distance.

There’s been a lot of eye-rolling...

One would think that's not possible when overloaded with Botox.

They don't want the media to give it a one liner on page 39. And they are perturbed when they do.

That's fine. Pelosi is going to lose her seat in Aztlan anyway. :)

Dunno. I heard that senators and congressmen frequently walk around the security checkpoint because security personnel recognize them and pass them through.
Point is, Cynthia was not recognized, walked through, failed to respond to the capitol policeman and them proceeded to physically assault him. Then had the audacity to play the race and victim card. Uh-uh! Cynthia shows no class, no common sense, no judgment. Typical 60s spoiled brat.

Typical 60s spoiled brat.

Don't think so. IMO, she epitomizes the "Gangsta" culture. Be loud, be angry, be disruptive, disrespectful of authority. Don't want to act "too white". The people of her district have elected a thug. And they are proud of their thug. She's just "telling it like it is".

The problem for the Dems is, as others have mentioned, this doesn't play well in a post 9/11 world. Beat up on a cop who is just doing his job. The people in her district don't care, but the Republicans will use antics like hers to scare the he!! out of voters.

Elect them, you get her. (My smarmy sound bite for the day.)

Why not? It's been what the Dims have been doing for 50 years.
