I had some people (not liberals I didn't think) say they were offended because someone was making money on tragedy. I don't get that reasoning. I want to know more about the people in that airplane. And their families approved. I think it will be upsetting to watch, but I think that's the point.

Wonder why this movie, which is supposed to be better not to mention later released, now making such an uproar compared to the made for tv movie shown on A&E, re-shown, and highly requested to be re-shown again?
In my honest opinion it helps keep the "Never Forget" feeling stoked and alive.
Well I'm offended when I see good looking women with tattoos.
I'm glad Rush is going to see it, because it's important to know that it treats the events of 9/11 in a proper way. But I can't imagine how they could do anything else in a movie about United 93.
During the Second World War, Hollywood made quite a few war movies. What I remember from seeing them as a child is that war is a terrible thing, but also a heroic thing, and in the end the heroism rises above everything else, whether the heroes live or die at the end of the movie.
I hope those are the two things they will combine in this movie.

I know what you mean. Why would any good looking woman want to screw up her body?
Hollywood made lots of WWII movies because the Soviet Union was our ally and it was their way of supporting the Russians.
Because we can???

I highly doubt Hollywierd will show the anti-American hate at the hijackers' training camps, the threats and attacks on America and other anti-America background before 911, the lap dances the hijackers got in Florida a few days before 911; I doubt the brutal slashing of the throats and the killing of the flight crew will be shown as real as it really was.
This will be sanitized. When they make a movie about the towers, they will not show the people getting splattered from jumping and the other horrors. Hollyweird will sanitize the anti-American hatred for sure.
Pearl Harbor was sanitized re the Japanese. The Japanese are now our great friends and have a wonderful culture. The Arabs are not our great friends and have a sick culture. They will be sanitized like they are some wonderful people now. Bet on it.
"...it's too soon, the '06 elections haven't happened yet, it's too soon, the democrats haven't gotten back into power, don't remind fly-over country why we're fighting..."
My thought, that I emailed to Rush during the show, is that the same people who are outraged about this ("too soon"), were the same ones falling over themselves to see Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11", during the middle of a campaign, no less, with in-kind contributions from the MSM, and by Democrat elected officials.
The "sanitization" of the Japanese happened LONG after the war, after they had regained their senses with a little help from us.
I've been reading some of the junk about this movie on the AOL message board, and Rush is more right than he knows. Lots of anti-Bush types saying the government is hiding something about 9/11. Plus the usual Arab saying that 9/11 was carried out by Zionists. Why should these nutcases have any right to tell us what we should see on the screen? They can go rent Fatboy Michael Moore's DVD, and shut the Hell up.

I went to the website a couple of days ago and saw the trailer (the one the delicate Upper West Siders were complaining about). It seemed like a very gripping film and I was trying to figure out, this being Hollywood, what they could do in the part that did not appear on the trailer to somehow cancel out the impact and make it anti-American. The evil US Air Force shoots down the jet while the jihadists are actually trying to save it? Or perhaps the jihadists are just looking for a little luv and understanding and the mean Americans reject them, thereby forcing these poor humiliated Muslims to slam the jet into the ground?
I will feel a little apprehensive until it comes out, personally, and I see the way they have handled the rest of it. Hollywood wasn't anti-American during WWII (or at any rate, they weren't pro-Nazi).
BTW, the trailer on the website has been changed to something that is basically just voices and a controller's screen. I guess the producers didn't want to give anybody any ammunition that could get their film dropped for being "too disturbing" before it even made it to the theaters.
Flight 93 ping.
Thanks eyespy!
My sister and mom are going to the private screening for the families on Saturday in NJ. We also might be going to the Tribecca Film Festival for the World Premier showing. Deniro's folks really kicked it up a notch for us and I'm grateful.
Also - whatever the first weekend gross box office receips are Universal will be donating 10% to the Flight 93 Memorial Fund. I think that is fantastic.
Thanks again for the ping....it is very nice of you to be thinking of me....much appreciateed! Have a great day!
Chris
