McCain: Not Enough Guest-Worker Backing

Supporters of a guest worker program that would let illegal immigrants stay in the United States said Tuesday they don't have enough Senate votes to overcome objections from conservatives who oppose the measure on grounds it amounts to amnesty.

As negotiators worked on a compromise to let those who have been here longest remain, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said a majority in the 100- member Senate support his and Massachusetts Democratic Sen. Edward M. Kennedy's proposal to provide green cards to illegal immigrants after they've worked in the U.S. for six years.

Same here, there are many parts of our city that is unrecognizable. All the surrounding comminities are now over 90% hispanic and look just like Mexico.
The problem is that people who do not live with it don't believe it.
We Californians know it to be true.

[Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.]

If a president said that today, he would be labeled a racist and the Democrats would burn crosses on the White House lawn.

If lettuce ever approached that price, rest assured I'd be growing it in my backyard and selling it.

Maybe I'd get some of those CO2 cylinders and grow lights and grow some inside, too....

Be prepared to pay $20 for a head of lettuce.

Throw a few seeds out in the backyard.

Lettuce grows readily in every part of the US.

Unless you think dollar-a-head lettuce is worth destroying our national security, sovereignty and the rule of law.

By the way, your number is alarmist bilgewater.

As I said in the previous post, at $20/head it'd be worth grow lights and CO2 cylinders...

would you stay in a country where you would be homeless, have no access to health care, and no access to education?

That is a lot like it is where they come from.

To: Blue Turtle; All

the REAL poll numbers must be REALLY different from the PRIVATE POLL data.

Seems the MSM has been exposed again.

Now we have a communist rally on May 1st in support of illegal alien movement.

(BTW: May 1 is also the american bar associations "law day" celebration....)

Last night in our county's Central Committee meeting, we talked about the situation the GOP faces in Congress. We came to the conclusion that Congress is going to pass a bill with a border fence with a combination of virtual and actual assets and increased border security. The issues of guest worker programs, etc. will be addressed in subsequent bill.

In the end, the GOP will dodge the bullet. The Dems will be seen as avoiding the issue entirely. The Pubbies will retain Congress and the Senate in November.

Apparently it bothers you to be called a racist, I wear it as a badge of honor.

It's the Big Times. Bad ideas and bad numbers don't last the first debate. They are tough on each other and play for keeps. Don't look at the photo ops as representative of what goes down there. Check it out.
