Jorge Ramos and Maria Elena Salinas, co-anchors of powerhouse Univision, dropped their usually objective delivery of the news...

let me insert the (/sarcasm) in the author's behalf

I am convinced some of these fellas are catholic priests. (i.e. sinkspur, petronski, etc.) The only defenders of what is going on now would have to be a catholic priest.

Why personal attacks instead of discussion of the issues?

Regardless of the outcome, the catholic church will remain to work its sedition, priests are not all that worried.

You sound like a Know-Nothing broken record

The US Conference of Catholic Bishops isn't the entire Church, this position isn't upheld in the Catechism and this is not a statement by the Pope.

What's so difficult to understand about those facts?

The bishops' position IS upheld in the Catechism. If you go to the link, you will see that their position is not far from yours.

You somehow want to leave the impression that Mahoney is acting against Catholic teaching, and that is most assuredly NOT the case!!

"Illegal immigration should be prevented, but it is also essential to combat vigorously the criminal activities which exploit illegal immigrants. The most appropriate choice, which will yield consistent and long-lasting results is that of international co-operation which aims to foster political stability and to eliminate underdevelopment"

Thank you for finding that! Another poster claimed different, but I couldn't remember what the Holy Father actually said. Look, if someone crawls onto your property and is in bad shape, give that person aid, and call the appropriate agency, ie:an ambulance and the sheriff. They can sort out legal status. You've done your job as a judeo-Christian/human being.

The more time that passes, the more I think that Mahoney has more loyalty to communism than to the Church.

I should have been clearer in my comment, being in a hurry doesn't always get it.

When I said the US Conference isn't the entire church, that is a true statment. What I failed to elabortate on was Mahoney's position, which isn't even what the Bishop's have said themselves.

Yes, the Bishop's position is upheld in the Catechism via helping others, pushing for economic relief in other countries, helping people to achieve legal immigration status etc. The Bishop's though fail to mention that they are also to uphold the laws of the US.

I made the mistake of lumping Mahoney's in with all the Bishop's. He's gone WAY past what the conference has said. In fact, Mahoney says he will in fact break any laws the US has or passes on immigration reform.

Hopefully I'm a bit clearer on this now.

He's not wrong, and he didn't say that.

He said he would ignore a provision in the House bill that required any cleric or minister to inquire about the status of any Hispanic who requests his/her services.

That is a preposterous requirement, and the Senate has already indicated it will not be in any bill that comes out of the Senate.

Mahoney's current position is in keeping with the statements of the US bishops over the last 20 years.

Those kids were used. Yeeehaw, we get to ditch school! I live in CA, but I'm sure it played out the same in other states. Pics of cops wrestling boys to the ground, cry me a river. The irresponsibility of the adults responsible, is disgusting to me.

Mahoney is in the position of shephard of his flock. He's driving them off a cliff. Damn skippy, he should be held accountable. He is not above the law!

Have you checked out his "cathedral"? He had Our Lady, Queen of Angels condemned after an earthquake, and now I'm questioning the amount of damage actually done. I've seen bus stations with more soul that that mess he had built.

I'm with you...
My hopes are that Pope Benny will kick butt on some of these errant Priests and Cardinals.
Sorry, but I won't give a dime to Diocese here in the OC, I know they are activists in this illegal immigrant crap as well.
Better way to help is with Maryvale Orphanage. At least the money isn't going to political causes I don't support.
Send me your link to email the Vatican... I'll send one too.

This is not an "invasion" so much as people taking advantage of an opportunity.

It may have started that way, but the Mexican government, for example, is not just sitting idly by and watching it happen. They are supporting it at every turn. And why do you suppose that is?

I don't know how to contact the Vatican...yet. Maryvale orphanage? I didn't know we still operated orphanages. I will keep them in mind. I can't donate anything, but if I run into someone likeminded I'll pass the word.

I'm in San Bernardino diocese, and quit going to church years ago. Imagine the priest jogging up the main aisle, with the congregation hollering, "hi Father Bob"! I had previously attended Spanish language Mass because it was more time convenient, but I don't understand Spanish language all that well. So, I go to the English Mass, and this is what I got. Nevermind the argument with the "nun" in charge of CCD.

My mom and dad were going to pay for that, and would have paid to send the kids to Catholic school. I was warned that St. Mary's in Apple Valley was worse than the public school system in Victorville. This is an intensely Christian area, and the school district tended to keep the crap out of the curriculum.

I'm rooting for Pope Benedict to clean up this mess once and for all. Poor old Pope John Paul II was a wonderful person, but his health allowed others to run him over, imo.

Maybe someone has a link to the Vatican. If not, I'll find one and ping you.

Nope. It's time for the Church to take care of the bad within her.

Los Angeles predictably had the largest turnout – and the most disruptive.

They were busing them in. Some friends were up in L.A. and saw the busloads coming in. I haven't been able to find out who provided the buses. The Mayor won't say.

Maryvale is in Rosemead and takes in girl orphans. They were the original Los Angeles orphanage years ago and were located in Boyle Hts., then built in Rosemead.
Great charity, they truly help the most abused kids, kids that cannot be put out to adoption due to the severe abuse they endured. They school them through high school and then help them get into a tech or vocational school or college.
I went to the Vatican site once, but I don't think there was a way to email the Pope.
I loved JPII, you are right about his health and those around him taking advantage.
Let's hope Pope B will be able to get things under control.

Not good news for Catholics in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
