To a point, I agree. I tend to respect people less when I see that they have a tattoo, unless it's one of those tiny "hidden" tattoos. The symbology of a tattoo is much different for me than I guess it is for the one wearing it.
As for piercings, anything beyond the traditional ear lobe piercing (women only) and my opinion of that person's professional potential goes is decreased.
I would never consider anyone as a serious candidate for a professional position if I knew of any "tribal" piercings.
