Senate’s Upside-Logic Cake

...In other words, the Senate will act on the following logic: In order to have fewer immigrants, we must admit more of them. In order to halt illegal immigration, we must legalize it. And in order to enforce the law, we must reward those who have broken it...

This immigrant competition has hit black Americans especially hard. A recent New York Times report pointed out, "In 2000, 65 percent of black male high school dropouts in their 20s were jobless — that is, unable to find work, not seeking it or incarcerated. By 2004, the share had grown to 72 percent, compared with 34 percent of white and 19 percent of Hispanic dropouts."...

No Amnesty. Not now. Not ever. Build the wall/fence. Secure our borders.

Only then can we discuss guest workers drawn from those who have stood in line legally to get here.

Expecting principle from politicians is expecting too much. We were bought off by their promise of enforcement twenty years ago. As the old saying as it, fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. The American people shouldn't be fooled again. The U.S Senate has no intention of ever enforcing our immigration laws, let alone partially removing the millions of illegal aliens already here. As the politicians play their games, our country is circling down the drain.

The problem is the other side is not going to agree to talk about it later. Sen Reid and Pelosi are not going to buy a deal well the Conservative Republican gets all they want if we promise to consider it next year. Who would buy that. Especially since that have a chance to get control of the House. We wouldnt if it was reversed. If people want border security and solutions to all this there better be a plan b or there will be no bill. Which means the problem will get worse. That means that the whole guest worker/citzenship thing has to be discussed and some agreement needs to be made.

Maybe black democrats shgould remember this when they vote and stop thinking the democrats are the party of handouts .

Its both parties though, both are equally guilty.

Blacks are being hosed by democrats and Republicans are being hosed by republican politicians.

I guess they both think they can win with the Hispanic vote. IMO we should all vote Independent. Neither party is worth whats left in the hole after you move the outdoor privy.

I steer away from this but actually I wonder if enough did just that, maybe the game could be played out similar to what the Dems have done. The Dems would think they won but they really wouldn't have won a thing because we could all take to the computers with faxes, etc and keep the party stirred up at every turn.

Noticed that a big group is being silent on this. The NAACP has taken a big out on the whole issue. THey might say some PC things but they are not fighting too much in this.

the federal government simply stopped enforcing the 1986 law some time around, say, 1987

And any law they might pass in 2006 or 2007 would cease being enforced the following year as well. It's frustrating and disgusting. Maybe the only solution to the open borders is for the states to move to protect their borders, and if the Federal government objects let them stand up, be counted, and voted out of office.

Both parties are prostituting themselves over this issue like no other, and it's really, really obvious ONLY because it's an issue on the front burner. We have to keep it on the front burner!!

And stick American taxpayers with the bills to support the legal/illegals.

Give the individual states the right to deny benefits, to arrest illegals and funnel them to federal authorities for a ride back to the border - of course, all the while laying heavy fines on those knowingly employing them.

Absolutely. And we need Governors who don't ask 'permission' to protect their borders .... we need Governors who take the initiative and force the Federal government to react. Otherwise Washington will kick the can down the road once again and claim they solved the problem.

What makes me the most sick about the political parties is their calculus on this.

1. Many Mexicans will begin to come illegally into the United States.

2. IF it isn't stopped, the Mexican population will rise.

3. Because it is our responsibility to stop this, and we have the advantage of knowing before hand that we will not stop it, therefore the Mexican population will rise.

4. Since we have a "rising population" (see #3), we betray our citizens in favor of the foreign population.

It is all disgustingly predicated in their laziness and betrayal working in tandem.

And you're right, it must be kept on the front burner from here on out.

Put the "can" where we, the citizens, have some control and hold the so-called "leaders" accountable. At least at the state level, we might have a better shot at handling the problem. If the federal government refuses to control the borders, it's going to be up to the individual to defend the borders of his own property - and that won't be pretty.

The senate republicans can pander to the illegals all they want...the illegals will vote democRAT in states where they can vote. Fortunately, they can't vote in Arizona now because of Prop 200 which requires that all voters show a valid ID that proves citizenship.

Well duh!. Seems like the RATS are getting ready to desert Blacks in favor of Hispanics. There are more Hispanics, their numbers are growing faster since there are fewer abortions and anyway the Blacks will not desert the RATS no matter how bad the RAT policies are bad for Blacks.

The law does not apply to Democrats. In 2000, small claims court judges (district justices a.k.a. magistrates) issued court orders to illegal immigrants in Philadelphia permitting them to vote. The judges were Democrats. The poll workers obeyed these blatantly illegal orders and permitted the illegals to vote without ID.
