Listening to Jerry Doyle on the radio out of SF. He ran for Congress himself, and knows something about that "piece of jewelry" -- he just said that the Congressional pin is a highly valued item, and members are proud to wear it, they even keep them on display in cabinets when not being worn.

For McKinney to treat it as just some piece of jewelry is very disrespectful, imo. But no surprise there. Typical of the marxists -- they tend to devalue such things.

I'm with you. Disgust in this type of behavior and throwing the racial card for what is very appropriate behavior on the part of Capital Police is beyond reality.

I enter my building every day in NY showing my building pass. If I forget it, I am asked to sign in and show identification even though the security guards know me. I wouldn't think of trying to bypass security or metal detectors as I know I would be stopped or possibly tackled if I tried to proceed thinking I deserved special treatment. I also would expect that at airports, the TSA would ask pilots and people working the gates to have to go through security the same as passengers. Security is for everybody.

Hitting a security guard with a phone while NOT having the proper ID and expecting special treatment because she loosened the cornrows on her head and was a member of Congress is asking way too much. She should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and somebody in Congress might consider a censure or other appropriate punishment for this kind of behavior. Nobody should treat security personnel like Cynthia McKinney does and get away with it.

THEN WHY CAN'T A TERRORIST FAKE AN PIN AND WALK IN THE CAPITOL AND SHOOT SOMEBODY?

As I understand it, striking a police officer is a felony, and that causes all sorts of extreme reactions and mandatory penalties and fines..

Assault (as if the cop were just a person NOT involved in security and NOT wearing uniform, is only a felony, and so she could plead guilty and get probation, suspended sentence, civil time, etc.

Lots of "protect the congresscritter while still prosecuting her" wiggle room with a misdemeanor.
