Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).
So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.
If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.
Here's a few helpful links.
C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.
C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.
C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.
C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.
OR FEDNET has online feed also.
A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).
THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]
Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate Majority and Senate Minority
And Monthly Calendars for the House Majority and Roll Call Votes can be found here.

Good Morning Oxen!
More on the border control/amnesty for illegals today. Will anyone actually show up?
They may be TOO chicken...but, I tell you what, I think those protests last week were a BIG MISTAKE...
Because I think they woke up a country that had fallen back into a sort of malaise after the initial emotion after 9/11...
All you have to do is spend time on the thread that kristinn started about Thursday's flag day...and you can FEEL the anger starting to really build up.
Oh...BTW...I was listening to my local talk show host a few minutes ago...who happens to be a friend of Tony Snow...and he said that he LIKES Lindsey Graham...and thinks he would make good POTUS material....GULP....but, he is angry at Lindsey for his stance on the illegals problem...LOL
Cynthia McKinney will have another press conference this morning at 10:30.

Somebody must have slipped something into his coffee this morning.
LOL...but, Hannity has him on all of the time...and doesn't Tony Snow have him on??
Plus, with Tony's opinion about the illegals thing..he might agree with Lindsey.
BTW..don't forget that hearing in a few minutes about immigration..
Although, the C-span schedule has Arlen Specter holding that hearing...on c-span...and on c-span 2, they have him appearing at a AFL-CIO rally!!
I'm watching.
Thanks for the ping!
FROM CAPITOL HILL
Immigration Issues Hearing
The Senate Judiciary Committee, chaired by Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA), will hold a hearing on immigration issues. Topics will focus on how the current court system deals with illegal aliens and what can be done to improve the process. This hearing will include judges & other representatives from the court system.
ON C-SPAN AT 10AM ET
I have a bad feeling about that hearing
This is more interesting than I thought it would be. At first it seemed like it was just a talk about how we can't get these immigration cases done because we don't have enough people to hear them. Now it seems like a tussle by Specter and his ilk to wrench some more power and responsibility away from the Administration.
I just turned it on and missed most of it .. and now I need to go get my daughter from school
thanks for the info
Why is congress trying to take the President's power away from him??
Congress is one of the reasons why we are in this mess
Because it gives THEM more of it.
Specter is trying to get the judges to say that the Bureau of Immigration Appeals should NOT be part of the executive branch. The judges are saying that there is no reason to believe that the cases are not, by and large, being decided correctly. This is not what Specter wants them to be saying.
Thanks for posting notes on the hearing...my cold is getting me lazy...I had to lay down for a while.
BTW..I flipped to Fox News a couple times, but didn't see anything about the Cynthia McKinney press conference, have you heard any more?
