Senate Coverage -- (April '06)
THOMAS ^ | 4-03-06 | US CONGRESS

Posted on 04/03/2006 5:37:14 AM PDT by OXENinFLA

Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).

So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.

If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.

Here's a few helpful links.

C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.

C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.

C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.

C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.

OR FEDNET has online feed also.

A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).

THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]

Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate Majority and Senate Minority

And Monthly Calendars for the House Majority and Roll Call Votes can be found here.

Sen. Session really called the other Senators out ...for misrepresenting the "amnesty" aspects..

And he DID call for a fence, deportation, and more beds at the border for holding people.

He also talked about this morning's hearing...and how it is a shame that the hearings take so long to get to...and that needs to change..

Thanks for the recap, sleuth. I have a daughter who almost always calls at about this time so I often miss what happens. (She is such a sweetie, but so are all my girls.)

LOL...my daughter knows the usual time I eat dinner...but, inevitably she will call while I am eating...and she says

"What are you doing?"....hehehe

Of course, when I say I am eating, she apologizes profusely, and then proceeds to tell me why she called....LOL

So, while I am talking to her, I am putting my plate in the microwave!!!

I just love her so much though... I never get mad.

Here is a piece on Allard's amendment excluding terrorists from obtaining visas which should be done as a stand alone law:

That is probably the best thing to do...I usually end up as mad watching O'Reilly, as I do Chrissy sometimes.

Have there been any votes YET on the Immigration bill??

Nope, nothing yet. Leahy was up to something this morning getting them to not offer any amendments until after they meet in their caucuses and determine in what order they will be presented. Did you see the article saying that McCain/Kennedy doesn't have the votes to pass. I hope that's right.

No, I just got home...and have been answering pings...

BTW..why did Tony's show only have a little over 230 posts??

I would think with the Tom Delay announcement, the Cynthia McKinney thingy, and immigration, it would have been a hugh thread...

Was Tony not there again?

I have no idea. Lots of regulars missing. Tony and radioproducer were both on the thread. It was just very, very sluggish.

I did get pinged to a Laura Ingraham thread...do you think some of Tony's regulars are going there??

I know this isn't something I should even care about..I just thought it odd that there were so few posts today.
