Senate Coverage -- (April '06)
THOMAS ^ | 4-03-06 | US CONGRESS

Posted on 04/03/2006 5:37:14 AM PDT by OXENinFLA

Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).

So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.

If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.

Here's a few helpful links.

C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.

C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.

C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.

C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.

OR FEDNET has online feed also.

A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).

THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]

Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate Majority and Senate Minority

And Monthly Calendars for the House Majority and Roll Call Votes can be found here.

Okay, so the government is responsible for the safety of our sea food

The government is becoming more and more like socialist with all this spending

Byrd says that we have just learned that the Iraq war plans called for withdrawal by September, 2003. I had not heard this. (Byrd really doesn't look like he can last much longer.) The rest of this will just be complaining about the war.

President Bush never said. He's lying.

It's really kind of sad. He's submitting an amendment requiring the Administration to include the cost of the war in the budget for the fifth time. He says its been adopted 4 times before and the WH is just ignoring it.

the only thing I can find is at the lefty site from March 31st

http://www.buzzflash.com/contributors/06/03/con06119.html
My colleagues at the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) and I have been working on both efforts. We filed suit against President Bush for authorizing the NSA spying program after its disclosure last year (CCR v. Bush), and we have outlined the case for impeachment in the new book, ARTICLES OF IMPEACHMENT AGAINST GEORGE W. BUSH (Melville House).

Just saw on Brit's show...a soundbite of Schumer saying he is going to offer an amendment for an investigation into whether Congress should break up the oil companies...

He said "on 5 to choose from is not a choice"...or something like that...

My first thought...WE should use his logic for TERM LIMITS...Massachusetts..just TWO Senators for over 30 years?? WV...how many years since they had a CHOICE...

OH>..I know they technically have a choice...but, without term limits, it makes little difference..

BTW...I feel like I have enough choice in gas stations...I can find 3 different prices within a couple miles radius...

I watched when Frist shut down the Senate tonight...and wouldn't you know...

The FIRST week back from 2 week vacation...and the dems have a retreat this weekend, so there will be no Senate until 2:30 on Monday afternoon!!!

sheesh...

Frist DID say he was upset that Wyden took so much time today, and they only got around to 2 votes...so he filed a cloture motion for the emerg. supplemental this evening.

Why couldn't the dems have their retreat during their recess??

I'm just asking..lol
