A fast-moving storm packing powerful winds tore through the St. Louis area Sunday afternoon, killed at least two people, damaged buildings and cut electricity to more than 270,000 customers across Missouri and Illinois.
Dark thunderclouds rolled in from the west shortly after 5 p.m., uprooting trees and snapping power lines in St. Louis County and the Metro East, where some of the worst damage was reported.

My husband and I were caught in a Walmart getting ready to check out when this storm blew through. They made everyone move to the center of the store and wait for some 40 minutes. As we headed back home empty handed (we got tired of waiting for them to get the cash registers back up) my anxiety level went up as we got closer to home. Debris was every where on the road as we drove back home as a tornado touched down near our hometown while we were held up in the Walmart store. I am so glad that we stayed put in the Walmart store as we surely would have been right in the middle of it on the way home if we would have reached the check-out register some five minutes earlier and then headed back home.
Our town had some damage (not on our property) and there were no deaths. When we got home our power was off and I later found out after the power was back on about the 2 tornadoes that touched down near our home in Randolph County, IL.

We're on the Mo/Kan side. Sedalia is about 60 miles east of us. It seems to ba a tornado magnet. They had another one a few days ago.

That should be posted as the Earth/Sci/Space pic of the day!
That is an awesome pic. However if it in my backyard I would have another opinion.
Wow.
Thanks for sharing.

17 dead so far, 12 in Tennessee alone according to the news this morning. May our Lord be with those injured and those grieving the loss of their Loved Ones.

Congratulations on making it without loss. I just posted an article about west and middle Tennessee being hit with nineteen dead from tornadoes. We also had a bad night here in east Tennessee with about six hours of severe thunderstorms.

barker I passed that site on with what little I have learn here, best I could do was ask for Intersession Prayers for all in the path of a wild season.
Without trying to make less of but want the beauty of can any one give me the URL of that pic posted up above on the thread.
The news is covering the weather crisis but to be able to send that pic out to my e contacts would mean a whole lot, I hope.
To: barker
this one barker can you give me a URL link to send out.
This is an awesome pic.
Thanks again for sharing, be safe.
To: barker
You know, just from a purely aesthetic point of view, that picture is beautiful.
To: Global2010
Just right click on the picture and choose what option you prefer. You can save it or e-mail it if you want.
Have not been able to verify this is actually a tornado in Sedalia. Friend that sent it to me got it from a former neighbor that lives in Sedalia. Someone else thinks it is an older picture taken over water in Florida but there are trees and a tower in the foreground.
Regardless it is beautiful but deadly. Unlike a hurricane there is little or no time to run from a tornado.
Prayer go out to all those in the path of the storms yesterday.
