Thousands of Tucson-area students walked have out of school to show their support for illegal immigration over the last week.
Now, some teenagers at the school where the Southern Arizona walkouts began are vocally coming forward to say they're against students skipping school just to make a political point.

Let's all do what we like to do most in the world, and call it a protest.
So courageous.
Now if these kids would give up something they liked in protest, that would mean more.
"That's messed up because we been stressing over prom for like practically a whole year," Lesly said. "We've been excited about it and now they're taking it away from us for doing something that we ... strongly believe is right, and they shouldn't be doing that."

Back in the '70s, when I was in high school, a bunch of kids left classes in a day of protest against the VN war (yes, I'm ooooold). I was one of the few who stayed in class, as my brother was currently serving, and I didn't think it was right to protest with a loved one "in". I wasn't particularly political, all I basically cared about was boys and having fun back then. The kids weren't punished for it, but they should've been.
I don't think I'd have left class even w/o my brother being there, though.
Good on those kids who stayed in school!
