Hill conservatives warn Bush of amnesty anger
THE WASHINGTON TIMES ^ | By Charles Hurt

House conservatives yesterday issued a dire warning to President Bush and Republican leadership that they will pay a devastating political price if they proceed with a guest-worker program or anything resembling amnesty for illegal aliens before securing the borders and enforcing existing immigration laws.

They wouldn't have to pay $75,000 a year. Just a competitive wage for the market. I don't believe the choices are $75,000 a year or illegal labor. Yes, we as consumers might absorb additional costs in goods and services, but only to the extent that the market would allow. It would also be partially offset by the increased tax base. Also, for every worker that moves off of government assistance to a paying job, the effect is compounded.

I agree with all you say and I have been a little on the pessimistic side. The trick is finding that magic number where you can get a good worker rather than just a warm body and those are getting harder to find.

Through the years our liberal policies and PC attitudes have developed a "you owe me" society that is growing rather than shrinking. We now have millions of illegals in the country and embedded in the economy. We have fifty plus years of welfare, subsidized housing and food stamps. That is what we have to deal with.

Each of us could start from scratch and solve this problem quite well by NOT doing most of the things that have been done for the last 50 years. That is not a choice. We are where we are and the problem in knotty.

We conservatives are dividing ourselves, with a little help from our friends, by dealing with shouldda, couldda, wouldda, and what ought to have been done and demanding impossible immediate solutions.

Well good. Maybe one of my many phone calls and emails was heard and taken seriously. All week long last week I got to tell the RNC and the RNCC callers that we will no longer financially support the party until they get something done as it relates to the borders. No money! I told the RNC caller to make sure they get an urgent message to Ken Mehlman that the grassroots is no longer going to send money until this matter is addressed and addressed properly.

I didn't say they all were.

I know, and the Libertarian label, not necessarily the party, has become a refuge, or front, for some liberals. Bill Maher and Tim Russert claim to be Libertarians, just to name a couple. Does anyone really believe they embrace Libertarian principles? They just hide behind that because most people have no idea what Libertarians believe and those who do are too nice to call them liars. They are too cowardly to admit the are liberal Democrats.

That is the real solution here, we need to annex Mexico.

A local newscast in the DFW area last night had a reporter on the border with the MM Project and she stated that there are several Latinos joining the Minutemen as well as several Democrats.

The Libertarian Party, ironically, is not even close to libertarian.

I’ve got four full time Black employees and none of them ever stole from me. I did have a guy that I only used now and then when we had extra work rip off some tools, but my foreman sent a couple of neighborhood guys out and got them back.

I don’t hire anyone who can’t speak English and prove he is a citizen, so I don’t have a problem with Mexicans. But my regular Black workers are good and they push the other guys when we have to bring on more help.

It's sort of like making tea. You start with hot boiling water and tea leaves. It tastes too earthy and needs something to sweeten it. Reach into the cabinet and grab the bottle of Limocino del Choistro and dump some of that into it. You will feel and smell like you're growing lemons under your armpits in seconds. Don't use much. save it for when you get sick. It's not cheap.

Americans will have to get used to paying more for construction work, meals in restaurants, etc

That's another fallacy. Have you been to a restaurant lately? A salad or a burger sets you back 8 or 9 dollars.

Yes. I like the taste. There is another one from Sicily made out of oranges that comes in a triangular bottle that I can't find anywhere. Spanish Anis liquor is great in steamed coffee and I can't find that anywhere. I like tasty things that apparently nobody knows about.

You must bow down:) I have exclusive tastes while dressing so I can hide in plain sight:)

I know. I forgot something else. Turkish Roki and Basque absinthe. Use only a small amount of the latter.

Hey! The sun's out! Want to check out some beaches and washed-out mountains on the coast? I know a good place to pig-out between Sea Cliff and Camarillo.

Anything I drink, I drink neat.
Hate coffee, but tea is ok.

80 sunny degrees here.
Washed out, coastal mountains? CA hasn't fared well this winter?

The temp should be nice today. There was heavy rain every couple of days for months around here, as if it was a tropical monsoon. You could only wonder when alligators will start crawling around in the gutter.

The sun might be here to stay. I will begin my transformation from your local white guy into a Puerto Rican. My skin changes color fast.

If you ever get to the Costa del Sol and hang around there in the Med, you can always find American women. They are the ones with the white titties.

I've been figuring that he floated her to buy some time while he was looking at other candidates. It's just my speculation, but he couldn't have been serious about her, I don't think.

That thought had crossed my mind... but he was in charge of the timing of the nomination, and Rehnquist died such a slow death that it seems improbable that they didn't have enough lead time. No, I'm afraid the Bush clan is more like the mafia than anybody here would be comfortable with, and this was paying back a debt owed to one of the "family".
