Do you support rigorous measures to strengthen border security and tighten immigration controls? If so, you're probably a 'nativist' - read racist - or a rube, or very possibly both.
Don't believe me? Just ask Neal Gabler. Here's what he had to say on this evening's Fox News Watch:
"The conservative nativists, and maybe that's a redundancy, thought they had a winner here. What a great issue they have," he said sarcastically. "You can beat up on aliens and get all of those white folks for the 2006 election."
Conservative columnist Jim Pinkerton weighed in with two points of note:

Neal Gabler is a little bitch. I can't believe Cal doesn't just slap the piss out of him.
The MSM debate is interesting. For a while they were saying "illegal" or "undocumented" now they're following the Bush/Dem/Cheap labor line of just "immigrant." For a while they were noting the costs of illegal immigration, taxes, wage suppression, the conversion of middle class jobs to lower class, now that's disappeared.
It looks like they're pressing the "racist" line of late.
I sent an email to Eric Burns in January telling him I was a 4 plus year viewer and if Gabler stayed on the show I was quitting it. Haven't watched it for 6 weeks.
This is a win-win for the dims. Even though the vast majority of the nation wants the illegal immigration issue solved, the pubbies will somehow give us a piece of crap immigration bill that give legality to millions and not stop the border problem. Then, there will be so many pubbies so disgusted that they will set out the upcoming elections and give the dims a win.
I won't be one of them, but I suspect many will set things out. Why vote? Their own party screws them anyway.
The racist thing seems to be the common punishment for those of us who don't toe the line.
Neal Gabler can kiss my A$$
I noticed that, too. In my case, it couldn't be further from the truth. I'm working on a dive boat in the Gulf of Mexico with a Mexican (legal) dive crew and they are a great bunch of guys.
Thanks.
I say that if Vicente Fox refuses to deal with his little problem, we should just make everybody in the provinces of Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahau, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, and Tamaulipas United States citizens. Then let them choose which country they want to be a part of. I can guarantee that the US border would move south immediately. ;-)
If Fox doesn't get the message, go for the next row of Mexican provinces. :-)
I thought that people were only racists if indicted by Reverend Jesse Jackson or Reverend Al Sharpton.
Since they have been curiously silent, I will give those opposed to illegal invasion of the US the benefit of the doubt.
Sarcasm light is lit.
Thanks, PG - it's really my pleasure.
I agree and I saw that program but, knowing Gabler, wasn't surprised. Why should we be? We all know that when the Lefties can't adduce a rational argument and articulate a coherent point of view they are reduced to name-calling, ad hominem attacks, and smear tactics. By the way, charging "racism" (directly or by implication) has now become the M.O. of the opponents of secure borders. Forget about the social, economic, and national security disasters this has brought us! No! Let's slander our opponents instead of dealing with the facts. These tactics remind me of what one of the defence lawyers in the OJ trial said -- "we not only played the race card but we dealt it from the bottom of the deck."

They do hate us, and they want a better life, OURS...
question is, are we willing to hand it to them...
