Sure there's a reason ~ apparantly you've never been a woman in the Middle East.
Those pictures were taken when she was still in the presence of Arab men who are the officers (and enforcers) in a political party which is compatible with her captors.
Her best course of action was to not pi$$ any of these cockroaches off.

What bothers me is, what she said in the interviews is not that different from what she said in her articles and columns. No one was holding a gun to her head then, were they?

With her life at risk for 3 months and all the mental torture I hope she seeks some help.

Hey, she's a professional writer ~ like many of us on FR.
Even our most casual conversations are weighed and trimmed before being tossed out into the wallow.

As I understand she had American protection at the time. The notion that there were Arab men in the room shows entirely too much deference for someone who was imprisoned.

At the moment American, British and Iraqi soldiers are undertaking major efforts to destroy a large kidnapping ring in Baghdad.
They are putting a stop to all of this.

Now we will find out if she was an innocent victim or if this was a stunt set up with her friend, Natasha Tynes.

No it doesn't. It looks like her roots are dark, like her red highlights have been growing out for 3-4 months.

The statement reads like a response to the rants in the past couple of days on Free Republic and talk radio here in the States, none of which she could've read or heard. Therefore, I conclude that it must have been written for her by her dad or by her embarassed employers at the CSM. CYA time for CSM!

Peace activists, those who "understand" insurgents, will ALWAYS be suspect in my mind. They are always, ALWAYS released.
I'm glad shes OK..but there was never doubt in my mind that she would not be. She was one of their own, a mouthpiece, easily used, easily swayed. Like that French journalists.
Collusion takes many forms.

The 3 hostages rescued earlier DID NOT SAY all the garbage that had us riled up. Those were the home office people.
At the time it was pretty clear who was talking.
Besides, as a general rule, whatever a hostage says the first few minutes after his or her release, unless it's the location of the captors, is probably not terribly relevant to anything.

I hate the way those Muslim rags on chicks heads look. Ugly as hell. I've noticed since 9/11 an increasing number of Muslim chicks here in the states who wear those UGLY rags, plus the whole black bathrobe garb. I think it is their version of having a chip on the shoulder. They became ultra-Muslims (even if they don't believe in that crap) as a way of stickin' it to the USA.

Fair enough. Until then, best to withhold (or at least qualify) all speculation.
That's not the question. The question is who is at fault? Those starting to think or those who do not and are dupes of her qualifications and what not?
The question is whether those being duped are held to the same criteria of scrutiny.
No they are not.
They are being duped by this choreography and orchestration of interviews. What sticks to the bureaucracy/officiality/mass is what she is heard saying first (rule of primacy amongst other things).
Eg. years after the Rabin assassination, despite extensive evidence that the alleged shooter could not have shot him in the back while he was facing Rabin, the official research in Universities on world politics still go with the story of right wing extremists in Israel shooting Rabin. Why they do not correct the error, much like many still believe in the Elders of Zions? It simply because that is what came first and most forcefuly that is retained, whether true or not.

Not too hard eh?
There's plenty of video of people getting their heads slowly cut off. It doesn't take much of a threat from these people to know what may be in your immediate future. Neither you or I can imagine just how awful wondering if that's going to happen to you day after day for three months.
I'm not going to condemn her for what she said trying to save her own life.

Right ~ first thing someone is going to do in this sort of situation is change clothes/not!
First thing is to make sure you are safe and miles away, and among friends.
Still, the situation you are referring to had her in the hands of members of a political party we'd best think about disposing of, not the US military.
You saw NOTHING once we had her.
