Illegal aliens didn't build U.S.
Pittsburgh Tribune Review ^ | March 29, 2006 | Jack Markowitz

Posted on 04/01/2006 6:57:01 AM PST by Supernatural

It's a new chapter in the Promised Land. We are becoming The Land That Better Keep Its Promises - or Else. Even promises that never were made.

A half-million illegal aliens and friends and sympathizers have taken to the streets of late, demanding unhampered residency and employment. Their anger is being whipped up against an America that would fence its borders against more coming over, and require proper payroll-keeping and taxpaying from employers who hire them outside the law.

Why? In part because a new myth is gaining currency. It is that illegal immigrants, mostly of Mexican or other Hispanic origin, "built this country." Without them the economy would collapse.

"We are the motor of this nation!" a speaker harangued the 500,000 who marched in Los Angeles on Saturday. "We construct your schools! We cook your food!" Other thousands marched to this beat of indispensability in Phoenix, Denver and Milwaukee.

That people who entered the United States by stealth feel entitled to tie up U.S. downtowns with their grievances is nervy in the first place. But their slant on U.S. history is off the wall. No better clue might be needed that kids should be taught in English, fast!

It was religious freedom-seekers from England who began building this country, followed by natives of every part of Europe, Asia and Africa. And their descendants keep right on building it as e pluribus unum Americans -- "out of the many, one." Don't expect them to honor some dubious economic necessity to let everybody in.

Hey, Dane I have picked vegetables. If I lost my job and had to I would again. I heard somewhere that we have 70 some odd million people on welfare on this country. Rather than asking us, why don't you go ask them, providing of course that since there is work they can't receive welfare for that time period?

Or is that I have to not only subsidize illegal workers, I also have to subsidize people who have no good reason why they can't work?

Thank you for your non-answer in advance.

It is also the same agenda being promoted by President Bush and El Presidente Fox.

No, but breaking laws in criminal, then again you know that. Or, perhaps after reading it so many times it doesn't appear to have registered yet.

I wouldn't support sending prisoners out to do it, I simply will not support slavery and putting prisoners in private land owners field would be theft of their labor. If I can not support one form of slavery then I can not support another either.

We have plenty of able bodied people sucking up welfare who can do this work, and that certainly would not entail slavery.

Regards

What do you expect a lot of those evacuees were welfare dependent or criminal class that just neede to change their address to keep receiving government handouts. Means there was no good reason for them to work.

I would love to see some kind of cite for that--that 1 in 4 Americans is getting his income from the government. Perhaps if you put in retirees on Social Security, you might get close to that number, but not like "welfare" as we understand it.

Yes. We know each other from the discussion on the Sago miners.

And the bulk of the elected legislators in D.C.

I will, and should have, qualified myself (you are right). I was listening to the radio while driving so I'm not real sure of the number. I mean after you take out the old folks, the school aged kids, those with severe physical or mental handicaps, I bet we could still come up with however many we need to get the farming done and the buildings built.

Is that a little better?

I don't think Dane is a troll. He's having fun pushing some folks' buttons...after all, it is April Fool's Day. He's really giving us some things to consider whether we agree or not. It's obvious he is not a big fan of Tom Tancredo's, but neither am I. Some of my friends are huge fans, and while I agree with some of what he proposes, my intuition tells me he is not the man I want to be POTUS. I don't claim to have any supernatural powers, but I have learned to pay attention when I receive feelings about people. I ignored the feelings once and voted for JFK...big mistake...helped create "The Kennedy Dynasty".

Things like this aren't important to a corporatist. They don't have to pay it up front and force everyone else to subsidize their behavior. Dane certainly seems to be in the corporatist camp.

I am as pro-buisness as anyone on this board, that doesn't mean I will stand by and watch business commit illegal or immoral activities just for profit.

I really don't think it matters much as to who the next president will be.

The agenda is so obvious now that only the dullest among us would miss it.

The agenda is to destroy the middle class of this country.

Their plan is succeeding remarkably well. The damage may well be irreperable at this point.

No, I don't have supernatural powers either. Look at my homepage and you'll see where my screen name came from.

Well, I've had about six people now thanking me for posting this article.

I'm glad you got to see it. It makes some good points.

Supernatural, when I wrote I didn't have "supernatural powers", I wasn't even thinking about your screen name. Sometimes I will warn my husband about something, and if the warning proves true; he'll want to know how I knew. I was meaning to imply I get strong intuitive feelings, but I'm not a psychic nor do I have super power. I'm sorry if I gave you the impression I was making a 'dig' about you...that was the farthest thing from my mind.

I looked at your homepage...nice...but your niece is gorgeous!!

LOL! Sometimes I tell people to check out my pretty niece on my homepage. I put her last so they have to look at pictures of me first.

I use her as "bait".

Really, so you're saying you avoided taxes on earnings from mowing lawns?

Well, I did the same thing stating when I was 13, my Dad required me to total it up and pay the tax because that is what responsible citizens do.

So why didn't you pony up the tax, Dane?
