DURHAM, N.C. - The father of the woman who has accused members of the Duke lacrosse team of sexually assaulting her said he didn't find out that his daughter was the reported victim - and that she is an exotic dancer - until a reporter visited his house.
The retired trucker who lives in Durham said he saw his daughter the day after the reported attack, but she didn't say anything was wrong. She even left her car at the house for several days because he said she didn't want to drive it.
Her father, a quiet man who tinkers on cars as a hobby, said he saw news reports about the attack.
"I didn't know it was my daughter," he said. The Charlotte Observer generally does not name victims of sexual assault, so his name is being withheld to protect the identity of his daughter.
The case has ignited campus protests and stirred racial tension in Durham. The woman at the center of the case is black, and the men she accuses are white. She also is a student at N.C. Central University, a historically black college near Durham's inner-city, compared with the more expensive Duke campus.
DNA tests have been conducted on 46 of the lacrosse players, who deny the allegations. A 47th member, who is black, was not tested because the woman said her attackers were white.
Last week, a reporter stopped by the reported victim's house looking for her, the woman's father said, but he said he didn't know what was going on. He called his daughter and she said the district attorney told her not talk to anyone.
"(She) didn't tell us anything about it," he said.
He said he also found out through the media that his daughter, who is the youngest of three, was an exotic dancer.
"She always told me she was going to work," he said.
On Friday, he installed a timing belt in a car and watched his daughter's two children play outside the house. He said working on cars and playing with the grandchildren helps take his mind off what's happening with his daughter.
He said she seems to be doing "pretty good," and so is the rest of the family. He said they haven't talked much about the reported incident, but it weighs heavily on his mind. He said he's grateful that N.C. Central has been so supportive, but he doesn't like how his daughter has been portrayed in the media. And he's especially frustrated that no one has been charged in the connection with the allegations.
"If it had been anybody but them, they would have been locked up, but yet they didn't because it's Duke," he said. "I hope them boys - if they did it - I hope they get what they deserve. I hope they don't go lenient on them."
District Attorney Michael Nifong said he's waiting for results of the DNA test and that he does not expect to file charges in the case any earlier than next week.
The stripper has admitted during press reports that she's also previously been paid to do more than a dance. Maybe she had consential sex with someone at the party, the guy refused to pay so she figured she'd claim rape as payback.
As for what Ga does with the DNA, I can only speak about procedures with CODIS (Combined DNA Index System). CODIS is owned and operated by the FBI and the states sign a contract with them to use the system. The FBI does not allow a state to run a DNA profile through CODIS looking for hits unless that profile has been matched to a crime already entered into CODIS. So the DA can't request all of these guys DNA and try to match them to a crime. What the states do with the profile after not making a match is up to the individual states.
I thought the same thing at first..Now my question is --IF the second stripper drove her to Krogers, where was she while the "rape" was going on? Waiting for her out front?
I don't even want to go into the differing versions of the father..How crazy is this??
My guess is that she was in the house some where .. doing what ever
A lone female would be nuts to go to a big party like this on her own
It's an election year. The democrat political criminal enterprise has issued orders to foment racial strife. The hardest allegation to defend against is a she said rape and racial slur accusation. The black racist democrats will be spewing this right up to election day and the BM (big media) who serve the democrap party will fill the airways witht his to foment racial strife. My bet is she didn't get paid what she expected and decided to punish the 'boys'. Racial relations in Durham are bad right below the surface and the city is the sort of place the racist blacks are looking for to exploit for political empowerment of their criminal enterprise democrap masters.
Here's a radical thought. Let the police do their work and we'll see what the outcome is. Or we can just line them up against a wall and let the Drive-By Media kill them all.
While her friend is struggling?--C'mon this is a little house..someone heard her crying or yelling or something...
Daddy must be sooooo proud.
Where is Jesse Jackson when these two performing females need him.
I have almost never met an 'exotic dancer' (stripper)...
Who was not also into money on the side...prostitution,videos,and a consumer of drugs...lots of drugs..
One particular place in northern WI during the opening weekend of 'deer hunting' ,in the space of maybe 5 yrs,I watched 100 to 150 guys paying for two girls who were allowed to use a trailer parked next to the bar just for the occassion...
The guys were even offered videos of themselves with the girls or videos of the girls with each other
This was all done right in the open and with the authorities knowledge and at least tacit approval at the time...
I would not believe a word she says....but if the guys made a deal with her prior...it was real dumb to try to lie their way out of it...
This aint like they grabbed up a girl scout who was going door to door selling cookies...
imo
A very Greshamesque scenario ... and well presented, Barleycorn. It is most likely the inceident went down just as you described.
That must have been a kick in the teeth.
thanks for the info..
I am of the opinion that the dancers made the first 911 call about racial epithets, and then chose not to follow through with it, it may have been an attempt to get the purse and $400 back or a failed attempt to report the rape.
The only sure thing is the media is carp with their reporting.
Do you think that Duke will turn their backs to the Attorney General of the United States of America when he investigates this one?
Pay Backs are a Bi+$h!
