LIBERTY CITY -- Police in this Miami neighborhood are looking for the parents of a child who was abandoned Thursday night, news partner NBC 6.
A witness told police that a car dropped the child off at about 11 p.m. in the area of Northwest 15th Avenue and 62nd Terrace.
"I've heard of this happening with pets and that's bad, but for this to happen to a child, to be left in the middle of nowhere, that's unbelievable," police spokesman Lt. Bill Schwartz said.
Police brought the child to the police department. She was wearing an oversized, multi-colored sweater and has white beads in her hair.
"This child was seen running down the street on 62nd Terrace from 15th Avenue Northwest, screaming, 'Daddy, daddy' and chasing a car -- a light brown or gold older model vehicle," Schwartz said.
Police canvassed the area but have not located the girl's parents. They also do not know the identity of the child, who they believe is 4 or 5 years old.

I was separated from my mother in a department store for a short time when I was around three, and I know what terror is. This little child will never forget it either. That a "parent" would deliberately do this to his sweet baby is unthinkable. And blacks have no monoply on cruelty either.

No, they are not the same as killers. The child is alive and safe. Yes, what happened was horrible but she is alive. Do you know how many children are tortured and beaten? She probably is in better and safer hands today than ever.
This is not a bad thing.
She is just beautiful, almost looks like my second daughter when she was young.

The poor little girl. If her "parents" are so inhuman as to dump her out like that, they must have already treated her with cruelty.
She should be adopted by a family who wants her.

My first comment to my husband... "Can we go to Miami tomorrow and claim this little girl?" I will not rest easy tonight, knowing she isn't in the arms of someone who loves her. I know the police and children services will help her. But, at this moment of fear and distrust, she needs to be lavished with love... from her MOTHER. I so wish I could step in.

She is a beautiful little girl. I hope the system works for her and she's able to get the love she needs to grow up as a well adjusted lady.
I am curous as to why you posted those pictures in response to me. I was responding to a idiot making racist remarks at this poor girls expense.
Okay, I read the whole thread now and posted what I posted at #149 before ever seeing a pic. All I saw was, " 4 or 5 years old," and that was all it took to make me pop out with what I did: Pure sorrow and rage at the same time.
Last night I woke up in a shock to a dream that my 2-year-old was convulsing, eyes turned back, panting, pale and stiff. My Wife was frantically trying to help but we could do absolutely nothing. Thank GOD it was only a dream. In fact, I believe it was God who faxed that dream to me to make me realize what a precious gift my two Sons are.

they moved out, lock, stock and barrel...took everyhthing BUT the children - - that, as I said, they had tortured - including burning with cigarettes.
Maybe they figured the law would be catching up with them regarding that - or whatever. But they abandoned them - I thought the signs of abuse including burning with cigarettes would be clue enough they weren't "mugged" or only walked out.

There are more children out there like the poor little one in this news article who was dumped by her daddy than folks who are born to good parents may ever realize. I know that child's pain, lonliness and fear, and wish I could scoop her up in my arms and protect her forever. But of course it isn't possible. You can't rescue them like you can a puppy, no matter how much somebody like me would want to.
More than likely, she'll be shuttled off into the foster care system and/or be bounced back to mom or some relative. Maybe she'll get lucky and someone will really love and cherish her. More than likely not, however, and one day she'll have a kid or two and treat them the same way she was treated as a child. And so it goes.
