I need to get to a show, and quick. ;)
So do I - for getting precision rounds in 300 Winmag for my target rifle. But I'm afraid your point is somewhat off - for a SMG the reloading pertains not to quality but to quantity and thus to the monetary side pure and simple. [How to get several hundred rounds, hopefully without duds, and not to incur too much of an expense]. To reload on that scale one would need an electrically driven reloading press - and these are $$$ themselves.
Hmmm... not quite, I'd say. If one is to shoot not once a month, but couple times a week, the yearly ammo costs could easily become comparable with the cost of the firearm.
Isn't Missouri the state that passed the law that basically allowed people to build new automatic weapons (or something along those lines)?
You know, I enjoy that show, but what really gets me about it is that the producers don't seem to think the military (even the Air Farce) would have sense enough to send their people out with *bigger guns*! Whenever they shoot one of those armored jaffa, it takes about fifteen rounds to down him. *I* say send at least one guy out on the team with a 'ported .50 cal carbine, so they can take those guys down with one shot! Not to mention grenade launchers, net guns, and all kinds of useful stuff.
Oh, and how about the way they have all these guys run in and stand around the gate with M-16's when someone activates it from the other side? You just know, that in the reality of something like that, they'd have multiple howitzers and other heavy crew-served weapons permanently emplaced, and slaved to a central computer!
and squeeeeze out every last drop of variable to accuracy.
