Fake Circulation of Prehistoric Paleolithic Media
New York daily News ^ | 3/31/06 | By RICHARD T. PIENCIAK

Tens of thousands of New York Posts were dumped at two recycling centers yesterday morning, just hours after being printed, in a bizarre circulation ploy that has already come to the attention of newspaper circulation authorities.....

....

....

.... It was unclear last night how much Nike had been asked to pay for the specially printed newspapers, which the Post is understood to be claiming as paid-for circulation.

....

.... An official from the Audit Bureau of Circulations, the newspaper industry's watchdog group, arrived on the scene and witnessed the dumping operation. He left with one of the promotional copies.

....

.... The wholesale dumping at the recycling centers was only part of the Post's circulation-pumping operation. ....

.... Thousands more free copies were spotted unattended at delis, transit hubs and other storefronts across the city.

....

.... Dozens of unopened bundles also were spotted outside LIRR and subway stations in Queens and Brooklyn. In two instances, The News witnessed trucks arriving at those locations and removing thousands of the papers, presumably to be disposed of elsewhere.

....

.... All of the tens of thousands of Posts bore the message "Promotional Copy." The "25 Cents" price tag in the upper righthand corner was replaced with a company logo and the words "Compliments of Jordan Brand." ....

.... Distribution of free, sponsored copies are permitted under ABC rules, but papers not distributed are supposed to be returned - and not counted as part of third-party bulk circulation. ....

.... The circulation scam was being perpetrated on the eve of today's final reporting day of the ABC newspaper reporting period. Sources told The News the Post-Nike program was slated to continue today.

. ....

....

But by nightfall, thousands of those copies were still piled on street corners, undistributed.

I love to see this, dino media imploding... no money=no lib parasite media.

That's why they don't want channel specific cable selection... we'd all turn off the big 3 for news and then their "true" ratings would be laughable....bwahahahahaa

Tip of the iceberg.

I would not be the least bit surprised to discover that
Soros pays for containerloads of WaPos and NYTs to be
printed, loaded into intermodal containers, and quietly
dumped at sea.

I have to admit as a NY Post reader that I'm bummed that the Daily News got the goods on them this way.

I can only imagine that the Daily News was making such a big fuss about the Post's paper dumping so that the authorities wouldn't notice the Daily News' own paper dumping.

Maybe it's karma. The NY Post make a mockery of the Daily News' mistake in one of it's newspaper lottery style games. THe Daily News was shredding papers fast and furious in order to avoid payouts to large numbers of people.

That reminds me of the time I was getting gas and a girl was in front of the store trying to give away Gannet's local output. In the time it took to fill my gas tank and pay for it, she did not manage to give away a single copy. She looked to be close to tears. I almost broke down and took one, but managed to say "No, thanks. I don't have any fish to wrap."
I also had a battle with the circulation department about keeping my doorstep free of their garbage until I threatened to call the police about their littering on my property. That worked.

I have sat TV. I unsubscribed from the alphanets and PBS sometime in 2004. They only cost about $8.50/month all together,at that time, but I simply didn't want to give them a cent and I realized we never watched them, anyway.

I paid a buck or so for FNC until it was included in the Total Choice Plus package. We do subscribe to HBO, mainly for The Sopranos. I would love to not get some of the other channels we don't watch, but they are in the package, unfortunately.
