Schmidt: The position taken by AG Edward Levy under Ford, said that Congress should establish a court mechanism but he was always explicit that they couldn't take away president's inherent authority.

Good. That wasn't clear from your post, and I know you don't have much respect for him.
Just making sure.

LOL! You probably don't believe President Bush should be censured for beating his wife either, right?
To: Peach
Schmidt: Levy repeatedly made mention that technologies could change and he had it right. We've faced a terrorist threat in this country we've never faced before. The president went to NSA to ask them to use technology but they couldn't do it within the current confines of FISA and the president needs to have the authority to act.

Just that he was involved with Watergate and he has a book coming out. Isn't that the way he always is?
He and Woodruff and Bernstein have laid claim to Watergate and they're out there making sure no other scandal is as big as that one.

Schmidt: Even if you think all those people are wrong, I still can't conceive of censure. There's no evidence the president did anything but rely on good faith of the advice of the Justice Department. There's no justification for censure.

Sounds to me like Feingold is NOT going to get much help from this panel...except from Fein and Dean..and even they are not great "witnesses"...
I wonder how many DEM senators will show up??

Yeah, he's in there. Last time they showed him, he looked like he'd just been whipped and was sitting in time out.
To: ohioWfan
Exactly. Dean is a nutjob, imo.
