A Leftist attacked David Horowitz's book The Professors for allegedly creating a blacklist of leftist intellectuals and wanting to purge heretics from the nation's universities and stifling freedom of expression. Richard Lingeman's Orwellian inversion ignores the fact that professors are free to hold whatever opinion they like and that with their jobs comes a professional responsibility to teach as opposed to indoctrinating their students in a particular ideological viewpoint. Horowitz is asking the university to adhere to traditional principles of academic freedom and accept there are different points of view on social issues of the day. That is too much for the Left to stomach and its no wonder Lingeman tries to avoid confronting the real demands made in Horowitz's book on the profession. The Left's enthusiasm for despotisms is as obvious in our day as it was in the 1940s and no amount of cries of McCarthyism can disguise the truth. Then again, it would be too much for The Nation to acknowledge how much the university has been corrupted by the pursuit of a purely partisan agenda.

Great article - summed up best by Ann Coulter. When liberals have nothing better to say, they call you "stupid" and "murderer" and "Hitler".

Horowitz is right on target - and exposes why our college level educational system is a shambles and a joke. And why it is dangerous from a political standpoint - it threatens the life of this Republic.

When will the Left drop the McCarthyism mantra? Joe McCarthy was right about 90% what he claimed. the government was infected with communist spies.

From Wikipedia on VENONA:

The decrypted messages from Soviet aid missions, GRU spies, KGB spies, and some diplomatic traffic, known collectively as the VENONA papers, gave important insights into Soviet behavior in the period during which duplicate one-time pads were used. On 20 December 1946, Meredith Gardner made the first break into the code, revealing the existence of Soviet espionage[1] at Los Alamos National Laboratories.[2] Others worked in Washington in the State Department, Treasury, Office of Strategic Services (OSS)[3], and even the White House. Identities soon emerged of American, Canadian, Australian, and British spies in service to the Soviet government, including Klaus Fuchs, Alan Nunn May and another member of the Cambridge Five spy ring, Donald Maclean.

The decrypts include 349 code names[4] for persons known to have had a covert relationship with Soviet intelligence. It is likely that there were more than 349 participants in Soviet espionage, as that number is from a small sample of the total intercepted message traffic. Among those identified are Alger Hiss[5]; Harry Dexter White[6], the second-highest official in the Treasury Department; Lauchlin Currie[7], a personal aide to Franklin Delano Roosevelt; and Maurice Halperin[8], a section head in the Office of Strategic Services. Almost every military and diplomatic agency of any importance was compromised to some extent[9], including the Manhattan Project[10].

Hiss was GUILTY.The Rosenburgs were GUILTY. The LEFT LIED.

I hope we do keep a "LIST" of Horowitz's 100. I sure as hell want to know who they are. The Left can NEVER, EVER be trusted. They've proven it time and again.

How many recall that investigations by Congress brougt out many if not most of the info that McCarthy glomed onto several years later? IOW, it was there, Congress put it there, and anyone who bothered to read the Congressional record could have glomed onto it too. McCar. ran with it and was wery accurate in what he charged, and why not? It came straight out of Congress records.

The Nation's odious editor is a favorite guest of Chrissie Matthews.

Every individual, whether conservative or liberal, has a perspective and therefore a bias. Professors have every right to interpret the subjects they teach according to their individual points of view. That is the essence of academic freedom.”
I would expand that to, "Every individual, whether admittedly conservative, admittedly liberal, or putatively objective, has a perspective and therefore a bias.

In fact, those who claim a virtue such as objectivity are arrogant and therefore more biased than those who admit to either a conservative or a liberal tendency in their thought.

Excellent!

That Chris Matthews
--no right-winger--
offers up Katrina vanden Heuvel,
(editor of The Nation),
for amusement purposes only...
and then only in small doses...
tells you something about this nutty operation.

Of course, leftists misreading this article are going to accuse me of using the same tactics I criticize in Lingeman -- guiltily associating him with Stalin and other purveyors of false accusations. The difference is this: the views I attribute to Lingeman and The Nation are not made up.

ARTICLE

HEAR HILLARY

On March 26, hundreds of thousands of people flooded onto Los Angeles' streets to protest a bill currently passing through Congress. The House version of the bill strengthens legal consequences for those associated with illegal immigration: Knowingly assisting, encouraging, directing or inducing illegal immigrants to cross the border would be punishable by no less than three and no more than 20 years in prison, and/or a fine; knowingly hiring more than 10 illegal immigrants would be punishable by no more than five years in prison, and/or a fine; illegal immigration would be a felony; new border patrol agents would be trained; funding would be provided to construct a fence along one-third of the U.S./Mexico border.....

Only now, several decades too late, has Congress decided to act.

But better late than never. The stated purpose of the controversial bill is to curb terrorism. September 11 surely awakened us to the dangers of nonexistent border control....

COMMENT:

These machinations are really only more of the same: Congress legislates, INS ignores. This is political pandering at its most cynical. These machinations are de facto nothings.

The GOP must not allow itself to be torn apart by de facto nothings.
The hispanic voter must not allow itself to be demagogued by de facto nothings.
The Right must not cede the hispanic vote to the Left.
The Right must not cede the hispanic vote to hillary clinton.

Are you becoming a little disillusioned with the blatant anti Bush tone of Alan Shore's character? I have to fast forward most of the show to get to the balcony scenes.

The show now seems to be about 90% Liberal propaganda, not so in the beginning.
