Transcript of the "Mujahideen of Iraq" with American hostage Jill Carroll
http://www.lauramansfield.com ^ | March 30, 2006 | mujahideen of Iraq

Posted on 03/30/2006 8:52:52 PM PST by Calpernia

The following is a trancript of the video released this morning on the internet by the "Mujahideen of Iraq", showing a pre-release interview that the jihadis did with American hostage Jill Carroll.

The interview, conducted in English except for a brief portion at the end, can be downloaded from http://www.lauramansfield.com/j/jolkorl2.rm

Male speaker: Dear Carroll. We are from the mujahideen in Iraq.

(Jill Carroll nods her head)

Male speaker: Please we want to ask you some questions.

Jill Carroll: mmmK

Male speaker: How did the mujahideen treat you?

Jill Carroll: They treated me very well, they treated me very well. Like a guest. I was given very good food, kept very safe, treated very, very well,"

Male speaker: Did you think the American army or the CIA would save you at any time?

Jill Carroll: I thought maybe they might. Sometimes I thought maybe that they might come, they might find me, they might find a way to know where I am and come, and come get me. I did think maybe they might.

Male speaker: Why did not they save you?

Jill Carroll: Well, I think the mujahideen are very, are very, are very smart and even with all the technology and even with all technologies and all the people that the American army has here, they still are better at knowing how to live and work here, and more clever, despite all the technology of the American army, they are still more clever, and better at being here than the American army, they are still better at what they do.

Male speaker: Does this mean anything to you?

Jill Carroll: Well I think it makes it very clear that the mujahideen are the ones that will win in the end, in this war, I think it makes it very clear that even with thousands of troops and airplanes and tanks and guns that that doesn't mean anything here on the ground in Iraq, I think it shows over time, over time, maybe, however many months are left in the Iraqi occupation, that its pretty clear that the mujahideen are the ones that will have the victory at the end of the day. It shows that no matter what the Americans try to say is happening here, or try to do with all there weapons, they are mistaken, the are not going to be able to stop the mujahideen here in Iraq.

Male speaker: What will you tell the American people about the mujahideen when you go back to America?

Jill Carroll: Well, first of all I want them to understand the mujahideen truly. There are a lot of lies that come out of the American government calling the mujahideen terrorists, I think it is important that the American people hear from me that the mujahideen are only trying to defend their country, it's only a jihad to stop an illegal and dangerous and deadly occupation. I think its important to see that the mujahideen are people like we've seen throughout history resisting an occupation, trying to fight a foreign force in their land. It's their country and they have a right to fight for their own freedom. So I think, I want people to understand that. That its not people that like to kill, not people that like violence, but people that love their country, and that want to see their country free of occupation.

And also I want them to understand that the situation in Iraq in general, how difficult it is here. People don't have electricity, they don't have water. Children don't have good safe streets to walk in. Women and children are always in danger here. Houses are always destroyed. People are killed left and right in the street without any reason, people die every day from the bombings and the shootings that go on and all these things, so I think people need to understand in American how difficult life is here for normal average Iraqis, how every day is a matter of survival, life or death for most Iraqis and thousands and thousands and tens of thousands of Iraqis have lot their lives here because of the occupation. I think Americans need to think about that and realize day to day how difficult life is how terrifying it is for most people to live here every day under the occupation.

Male speaker: Do you have a message for Mr. Bush.

Jill Carroll: (smiles, laughs, and nods her head) Yeah. He needs to stop this war. He knows this war is wrong He knows it was illegal from the very beginning. He knows that it is built on a mountain of lies and I think he needs to finally admit that to the American people and make the troops go home. And he doesn't care about his own people and he doesn't care about the people here in Iraq. He needs to wake up and the people in America need to wake up and tell him what he's done here is wrong so hopefully somehow he'll get the message that this war is wrong, that this continued occupation is wrong. That he can change his policies. It's as dangerous for Iraqis as it is for Americans and he needs to accept it and admit that to the people.

Male speaker: You have said the Mujahideen will win the war against the American army.

Jill Carroll: Oh definitely, definitely. It is very clear to see even now they are already winning every day there are soldiers killed, every day humvees blown up, helicopters are shot down every day, it is very clear the mujahideen have the skills and the ability and the desire and the good reasons to fight and for sure they will win.

Male speaker: What do you feel now that the mujahideen are giving you your freedom while there are still women in Abu Ghraib living in very bad situations.

Jill Carroll: Well, I feel guilty honestly. I've been here, treated very well, like a guest. I've been given good food, never, never hurt while those women are in Abu Ghraib. Terrible things are happening to them with the American soldiers are torturing them and other things I don't want, I can't even say, so I feel guilty and I also feels it shows the difference between the mujahideen and Americans, the mujahideen are merciful and kind that's why I'm free and alive. The American army they aren't. I feel guilty and I also feel that it just shows that mujahideen are good people, fighting an honorable fight, a good fight while the Americans are here as an occupying force treating the people in a very, very bad way so I can't be happy totally for my freedom, there are people still suffering in prisons and very difficult situations.

It shows the difference between the mujahideen and the Americans, it shows the mujahedeen are good people fighting an honourable fight while the Americans are here as an occupying force treating the people in a very bad way

We all know her politics were lefty before she got captured, but I put zero credence in statements made while being held captive by terrorists. Let's give this some time. She'll have the opportunity to talk about this again when she is not under duress and then we'll see.

I wonder how many of those who have make such accusations have ever met a radical Muslim jihadist, much less been held captive by one? I suspect the answer is none.

Was Laura held captive? If not, then why is she any different?

Excellent post NW_AZ

I'm still suspicious of Jill Carroll being an anti war activist; but even if that is true, most of the leftests are brainwashed and still fall into that explanation you posted.

The only nice thing I can say is that she does not have the discipline of a military person and probably felt she would be killed unless she said all this stuff. Still, to not disavow it after her release shows she was a terrorist sympathizer from the start.

>>>Was Laura held captive?

Excerpt from Laura's book, 'Inshallah'

Egypt. Even the word sounds mysterious and romantic. It conjures up images of Pharonic monuments, romantic cruises on the River Nile, and images of a young Omar Sharif.
As a girl born and raised in the American Deep South, I was drawn to the romance and exotic images I had of Egypt.
When I met Hassan, I had the chance to make those fantasies my reality. Or so I thought.

In many ways, Egypt was everything I hoped it would be. For most of the time I was there, it was my land of opportunity. I could do anything I set my mind to. When it comes to Egypt, most people have images of a misogynistic culture, where women have few rights, freedom, and responsibility, I found Egypt to be the exact opposite.

I had complete freedom of movement through the city. I took exotic vacations to places like Cyprus and the Islands of Greece, and I visited ancient monuments like Petra in Jordan as well as the ancient monuments in Egypt.

I had Egyptian Christian friends who eagerly showed me the tradition spot near Cairo where legend said the baby Moses was found in the bulrushes. I visited the spot on the Red Sea Coast near the Gulf of Suez where legend holds that Moses parted the Red Sea.

I was in an Islamic country, under great pressure to convert to Islam, but somehow my faith in God and my belief in Christ as my personal savior only grew stronger.

I learned a new language – Arabic. I met world leaders including a former U.S. President (Jimmy Carter), a future US President (George H.W. Bush), and a terrorist leader and his brother (Yassir Arafat and his brother Dr. Fathi Arafat).

In many ways, Egypt was wonderful to me.
But there was a dark side.

The man I married turned out to be an Islamist, a radical Muslim fundamentalist, with an ingrained hatred for all things that violated the tenets of Islam.

I went from being the trophy wife to being the symbol of everything he hated.

I met jihadis – mujahideen just back from fighting in Afghanistan.

And towards the end of my years in Egypt, I knew the fear that only a mother who is trapped in an Islamic country can know – the fear that she can never go home and the constant awareness that in a moment, with no cause and no warning, your children can be taken away from you forever.
That is the power that a Muslim man holds over a woman in an Islamic country.

If the woman is Moslem she has a few limited rights.
If she is Christian, she has no rights whatsoever.

Cal you are correct about the left and brainwashing, did you take a quick look at the google I posted, looks interesting.

On Miss Jill not having changed her story, on the 6 am ABC radio news, they say that she is expected to leave Iraq
today.

If I were she and still in Iraq, I would not have told the truth to any news reporter, I would say only what they wanted me to say.

Like everyone else, I too want to read her future articles, it will be very interesting hear what she has to say.

I also think she was an anti war activist. BUT, if she wasn't, she might not be able to disavow her statements yet. There may be existing threats to her or family's welfare that are still real in Jill Carroll's mind.

I couldn't reconcile the pleading, crying woman begging the coalition to submit to the terrorist demands with the woman now telling how very well treated she was.

#####

Her pleading, crying video could have been acting instead of sincere emotion. I think she is seriously antiBushwar.

"Terrible things are happening to them with the American soldiers are torturing them and other things I don't want, I can't even say, so I feel guilty"

@@@@

The other hostages from the Christian Peace something group also believe the above statement. They state that their 'mission' in Iraq was to search out Iragi families who had relatives in Abu Ghraib, take testimony, and 'help' get them freed from captivity.

Probably everyone who listens to Err Amerika believes this.
One result: Abu Ghraib prison is going to be closed.

She couldn't have been brainwashed if she had stayed out of a war zone in
the firt place.

And still no words of remorse for her translator. <<<<

You are correct, death is the chance we all take when we enter a war zone, for any reason.

Could it be that the translator was killed after she left the scene? and that she knows nothing about it?

I have no love for the left or the peace loving fools, who think that shining the light of love, will solve a war that is more evil than any we have fought.

I do understand a writer wanting to go to the war zone, in fact, I do not understand how one can be a good writer, if one does not know the real truth of what went on.

I had lost a foster son in Viet Nam, watched all the news, knew all about what happened every day......10 years later,
not connected with Fred, I found that I needed to know the real truth about Viet Nam, if I was to write about it.

Working in a truck stop solved that, the men who had been there, the real men, taught me what I did not know from staying home and being a good mother and citizen.

At 850koa.com you can listen to radio programs on the air, I hope they have archieved the programs as one of the reporters, returned from Iraq a couple weeks ago.

I think his name was Stephen Stubbs, he said he had a blog on his webpage there about his trip.

I was lucky enough to hear several of his calls home and the first when he returned to his morning news program.

I listened to his first calls, saying what you expect, making connections, not getting to the team he was to go out with, etc.

Then about 2 am one morning, he phoned during the Rick Barbor program, it had been one hell of a day, and he kept saying that he needed to hear a normal voice, to please talk to him.

He was out of Bagdad, with the Iraq Police, with the American Military at a distance.

They had been on patrol, all was calm, they were back at the station and all hell broke loose. Full attack on them and the station.

His praise for the Iraq Police and the army that he had worked with, was the highest, watching, being with and their attempts to keep him safe, was the finest effort that the men could put out.

Even to the Machine Gunner who stands in the back of the truck, to get in as many shots as he can, until the last minute before he is shot or seeks safety.

Stephen told of having been out that morning, on Patrol, thru several small villages, a boring nothing trip, with nothing happening in any of the villages.

On the return trip, something had changed, They came to the bridge that they had crossed only hours before, stopped and
checked it out, it had been wired and set to explode, 5 or 6 caches of explosives, ready to go.

Our Military Explosive Team, came and took care of the problems, it took hours, waiting, on the wrong side of the river.......hot and thristy.

Did you know that Saddam had all the bridges mined several years ago?

Saddam buried caches of explosives on them, in such a manner that you do not see them, they are deep enough to escape detection and all it takes is the timer and a few wires to set it off.

All the roads and bridges, started getting ready about two years before we got there, it just made sense to me, about or before our 9-11.

Stephen told of going to towns that had Never had running water before, but do now, thanks to our hard work.

Yes, there are electric shortages, the terrorists blow up the lines and plants as quickly as we repair them.

Stephen was so impressed with the children, that he is working with the Military men and women, not the officers, but the real Military who are on the ground, they have a plan to get the school supplies for the Iraq children, he was going to open a fund for it.

I heard him the first morning he was back on his news program, among the things he said was:

On the subject of politics, he was middle of the road before he went to Iraq.

His trip to Iraq was the most important trip/thing that had happened to him in his career. (Rick said he had worked with him for 20 years, so we are talking about a middle aged man).

Then Stephen said:

"Never again will I look on the war in Iraq the same again, we need to be there and we must finish the job, it is worth while to do this job".

I of course am hoping that Jill went to Iraq for the same basic reason that Stephen did, which was to find the truth for himself.

It is sad that her truth, can never be the same as Stephens was.

Had my life been different, I think, it is possible that I would have been one of the fools that had to go and see the truth for myself, no, I was never on the left and my memory of WW2, is clear enough, that I feel I know a lot about war,
and have not been there in person.

According to the 6 am ABC radio news, Jill Carroll was still in Iraq.

I will form my opinion on her, when I read what she has to say about being in Iraq.

Not by what a jihadi makes her say in return for another day of life.

Or what one of the jihadi supporting newspapers reports.

I am glad she is a writer, we may hear a different story in time.

One of the American Legion Groups I work with has a nonprofit group that goes and rebuilds in former war zones. I was given the opportunity to join them in Iraq to rebuild. Still can go if I change my mind.

If I didn't have 3 on the hip, I would go. I even spoke to my husband a few times about what a great life experience it would be for all of us to go. He didn't even entertain the thought about bringing the kids :))

I didn't press it at all because I don't think I could bring my kids to a war zone ;)

We could protest on Hwy 68.

Something along the line of "WAKE UP AMERICA"!

I should be safe there, as they can't take me to jail, my
Oxygen bottle is explosive.......LOL

Laughing at loud when I read all the way to your signature.

Husband is correct, now is not the time to take children to Iraq.

In fact, leave husband at home, with the Grandma's and go alone, there will be plenty of Military there to protect you.

It would be a trip for the memory bank.

When I was young and wanted to race cars, I was told no, as I had kids to raise.

They gave me the same story when I wanted to build a helicopter with a VW engine, from a kit.....stay alive and take care of the kids.

Now I say the same things to my grandkids, "you have kids to take care of", and it is too late for me.

You will one day be a top writer, you must go and see more of the world........

But do be careful.

A blonde in Iraq will be well protected, by half the U.S.
forces......LOL

Well, I think we will be in war and rebuilding for years. When my kids are older, I don't doubt that is something I would do.

I have to be mom first. They won't be children for years.
