Burning 5 million tons of coal produces 10 million tons of greenhouse gases? Methinks your doobies must be producing a prodigious amount too.

Here is a Shell powerpoint on their Mahogany Research Project.

Burning 5 million tons of coal produces 10 million tons of greenhouse gases? Methinks your doobies must be producing a prodigious amount too. When something is burned carbon is released which binds with the oxygen in the atmosphere. The weight of the oxygen (like in CO2) is in addition to the mass of carbon released from the initial material.

For every 12 pounds of carbon released there is about 47 pounds of CO2 produced.

As you were..they had to dock due to their fuel being sold, which required them to go into port.
No answer?
You should have given me a moment before salivating..over your presumed impression of knowledge.

I just pointed you to a link that says oil shale may not be worth jumping on the bandwagon for.. and you responded the same way the lefty blogs respond when I post there..
I didn't ask for an apology, nor expect one.. belligerent people come in all parties..

Oh please. You're a dime a freaking dozen.
Facts are facts. Wipe yourself with them, or read them and learn. Your choice.

My friend, and great historian, Howard Hickson has written a short history of an effort by a company to extract oil from shale in our neck of the woods. It's here:

We still have acres of the stuff, if its extraction ever becomes economically viable.

I would pray it be true, but the forces arrayed against it happening are gigantic.
I still remember back in the 80's the Parachute Colorado debacle and the Jeffery City bust in Wyoming. Billions poured in, zippo out.

Exactly.
Once, if ever, the oil reserves run out, we have a shitload of oil left in shale. And if we can't extract it then we've surely failed.
But I don't believe we've failed. America ROCKS, and we'll extract that oil.
