PLYMOUTH, March 29, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A 31 year old British mother put off treatment for leukemia when her diagnosis and eagerly-awaited third pregnancy were confirmed on the same day in 2004. The BBC reports that Sarah Peck of Plymouth, was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML).
Mrs. Peck said it was their haematologists agreement to manage the pregnancy that turned their decision away from abortion, or termination as it is called in England. "It's because he agreed to manage the pregnancy that we decided to go ahead, she said.
The Pecks were informed, however, that delay could cause difficulties in treating Sarahs illness. Dr. Simon Rule, a consultant haematologist at Plymouth's Derriford Hospital, said, If you delay (treatments) then the risk you run is that it can become acute at any time.
After the birth of baby Charlotte 19 March 2005, Sarah was treated with bone marrow stem cells from her sister, Vicky. This week, while the Pecks celebrated Charlottes first birthday, Sarah was informed that she was in the final five picks for the Daily Mails Mother of the Year award.
Sarah was informed a month ago that her illness is in remission. She told the BBC, What I am really looking forward to now is spending quality time with my children. My family has always come first but now even more so. Every day is a gift now.
Wow - beautiful.
Pro-Life Ping.
What a wonderful story!
It is wonderful but what we don't hear is that it happens all the time.
A truly awesome woman... a tribute to motherhood and womanhood... teach those NOW idiots a thing or two.
Have you seen this?
And a well deserved award. I agree with the previous poster who said that this happens (mothers actually deferring self-preservation to promote the welfare of her child) more often than anyone knows.
What Sarah doesn't know is that NARAL and NOW have nominated her "idiot of the year" for risking her life to save a worthless "fetus." /sarcasm off
How many mothers wouldn't put their child's life ahead of their own?
As far as I can tell, nearly 50 million women have put their own convenience above their child's life in the past 33 years.

WOW!
Uncommon selflessness for all the right reasons.
bttt
That's frightening.
And disgusting.
"...During her pregnancy with her fourth child, she was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst. Her surgeon recommended an abortion in order to save Gianna's life; she refused and died a week after childbirth, caring more for doing right by her unborn child than for her own life. Today that child is a physician herself, and involved in the pro-life movement..."

Here, in New York City, Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney has sponsored a bill that would regulate the free speech of crisis pregnancy centers. Maloney claims that they use "deceptive tactics" and "strongarm women". No mention by her of the deceptions by the abortion industry or of the women who are held down on the abortionists' operating table. Of course, the ACLU backs this bill which is an attack on freedom of speech. I guess Maloney is one of those witches who simply has no use for children. Safe, legal and rare are the biggest lies of all!
Too many women - and too many men - care more about their own needs than their own children. You are supposed to put your children first!
I'm not sure, but I believe I read that some cancer treatments will not hurt an unborn baby. Does anybody know for sure about this?
I'm no lawyer, but my guess is that if it ever went through, it would be a federal court case on the 1st ammendment. The crisis pregnancy centers are backed by the church and we have big gun lawyers. The ACLU doesn't have good lawyers...just lots and lots of bad ones who get their breaks from the 9th circuit, and then typically overturned by the SCOTUS.
Until then I'd just confront the hag with the *TRUTH*.
"Maloney"...That's Irish. I'm curious...does she still claim to be Catholic? You know, one of those "Catholic politicians" guilty of Heresy?
