Refried beans are full of fat, alas.
(My favorite food, the worst contribution of Spanish culture to this Sephardic Jew.)

One of our local news affiliate made a stong case that these kids don't even really know what they're protesting about. One girl was asked why she was marching. She replied because of Bush's stupid laws. The reporter pointed out that Bush is actually on her side. She said, that's not what I was told!

Yesterday, a caller to Howie Carr's radio show (Boston area talk show) called Carr a member of the KKK for wanting to secure the borders.

This and every other picture of the protesters I've seen have convinced me at to what's skewing the statistics on American obesity. How can a culture get that fat on beans and tortillas?Drink ice cold sodas with that and you'll get fat. The food doesn't get digested right. Plus I would say the core of the Mexican diet is rice, beans, tortillas and chicken

To me, these pictures are alarming because they show a blatant disregard and dis-respect for our nation (evidenced by the American flag flying upside-down AND below the Mexican flag).
They also show that these kids are stupid in that they can't distinguish between legal AND illegal immigration.
I fear for our country in ways I previously didn't.

Looks like party time...I predict around December we'll see a new rush of 16 year old stroller-pushing mamas in WalMart...

ummmm....if these folks want to become American citizens why are they flying the Mexico flag and disrespecting the American flag?

Refried beans are full of fat, alas.
Mexican beans are usually cooked pinto beans refried with lard. Lard and more salt definitely makes it taste better. I've eaten rice and bean (and chicken) meals from other Hispanic cultures and the beans are not refried

They interviewed the kids who skipped class yesterday here in Phoenix and marched at the state capital - the Fox station kind of poked fun at how they were at the state capital and being there had nothing to do with what's going on in the Senate in D.C. They also asked a lot of kids what it was about, and they had no clue. They couldn't even name the Senators who would be voting on it that were from AZ!

Refried beans? Sephardic Jew?
FWIW, traditional Mexican cooking uses lard. Lots of it.
Lard comes from pigs. You might want to talk to your Rabbi about this ...

If they are in the United States illegally, they are not immigrants...they are illegal aliens. What is the California Department of Education doing about these students cutting classes? I think it's time these kids were made aware that there are consequences for what they are doing. You don't fly the American flag upside down, and if they don't like the USA, go back to Mexico.
The schools need to adopt some dress codes and suspend students who violate it. Where are the parents of these kids that allow them to leave home looking like tramps?

Via Michelle Malkin, it's what the Montebello High (Calif.) flagpole looked like when protesters were done with it.
