Yep. Anything ever happen to the
Lady Lawyer who screwed up the
jury trial of Moussaoui? I haven't
heard that she's been punished in
any way.

You don't have to be an hibitual lawbreaker. Just negotiate and employment agreement with any union block and you will have the truth.

You sound like you know more about the process than I do. I will take your word for it being an accident. I guess I am starting to sound like a paranoid DUmmy. Sorry.

All that equipment hanging on the belt weighs it down. When you unbuckle the belt to..um..do your business..the belt slips out of a bunch of loops and ends up on the floor.

At least that's what happens to me with pagers and cellphones on my belt. Gotta think it's the same for police officers with all the stuff they carry. A Boca Raton police officer left her handgun in a public bathroom at a resort shortly before Vice President Dick Cheney arrived for a fundraiser.

To me, your above points aren't even the issue. The first sentence says it all:

"A Boca Raton police officer left her handgun in a public bathroom at a resort shortly before Vice President Dick Cheney arrived for a fundraiser."

Sounds like she not only unbelted and took her holstered gun off of her person, she LEFT it in the damned bathroom!

Yes, she should have been fired. Who is this officer? She should be investigated.

I'll bet that had it been a white male police officer, he would have been fired by now.

Just remember, she's one of the few trained professionals who are capable of handling the responsibility of carrying a weapon.

I have a feeling if I had done the same thing, my Florida concealed weapons permit would not be valid much longer.

Good morning.
"She should have been fired."

How did she make sergeant?

Was it a Glock? At least it didn't go off accidentally by itself when she dropped her drawers.

Good morning.
"...it's been my experience that most people who complain about the police are habitual lawbreakers."

You need to get more experience, FRiend.

I was responding to a post asking why she needed to remove her handgun from it's holster in the first place.

"Stephanie Plum, is that you?"

Personally, I'd trust my fate to Kinsey Milhone over Stephanie. Kinsey rarely even runs a comb through her hair; she's too busy kicking bad guy @ss, LOL! ;)

>Common sense tells you that nobody would leave a traceable weapon. They would leave another weapon. Also, the officer had to know that a security sweep was coming and the weapon would be discovered. This was not done on purpose

Unless they're tricky --
Leave a gun openly there,
at one location,

to draw attention
away from some other spot
where one's really hid . . .

A "high profile" hit
probably would include lots
of indirection.

I don't disagree, except that I can't imagine leaving any weapon that can be traced back to you.

I've read all the books in both series and agree, Kinsey is certainly more competent. I don't think she's ever had her vehicle blown up in a single book, unlike Stephanie, who does it multiple times in every one.

However, Evanovich makes me laugh out loud and then there's that Ranger factor. ;-)

If you are smart enough to drop a "throwaway", chances are you are also smart enough never to find yourself in a position that you would do so.

Sorry, no excuses accepted. She should be fired.

As a civilian female, I managed to regularly utilize public restrooms while simultaneously securing my purse and two holstered concealed weapons,(I had the permit, although I don't think they should be required) and a few "iffy" exotic lethal accessories that may have been frowned upon by LEOs.

I constantly lose cigarette lighters and pens.
I have never "misplaced" a weapon.
And I'm just a mere civilian citizen.

Yes, my comment was merely about whether or not she did it purposely. I have not offered an opinion on whether or not she should be fired. I assume department policy and personal judgment will have to be used to determine that.
