House Majority Leader John A. Boehner refused yesterday to rule out compromising with the Senate to expand the House border security bill to include a guest-worker program or provisions that opponents call "amnesty." "Let's wait and see what the Senate can produce," he told reporters yesterday when asked whether House Republicans would reject the Senate Judiciary Committee's proposal to allow the estimated 12 million illegal aliens now in the U.S. to seek citizenship after paying a fine.

Could you please explain that a bit? Because it makes absolutely no sense to me at all.
Right now, there are two basic immigration problems. The first is a porous border through which a new flood of illegals can enter the country almost at will. The second is the crop of illegals that are already here. And obviously, a continuation of the first problem makes the second one worse over time.
"No bill" means that our borders remain unsecured, and the current crop of illegals keep doing what they're doing. How is that preferable to a bill that shuts down new immigration, and gives a limited amnesty to some of the illegals already here? You might not like the idea of an amnesty, but is that really any different functionally from them remaining here under the status quo?
The phrase "Fat, drunk and stupid" also comes to mind.
Calling you a "Doody head" and a "booger eater" would be on about the same level I guess.
Not wanting Congress to pass an amnesty that would reward CRIMINAL behavior is hardly a "bunker mentality" sh*thead.
LIK, OMG!!!!
U 'R TEH FUNEEIST 1 HEER!!!+1!1!!!
GO W!!!!!
...shrieks the hysterical Bush-hating, bunker-hugging crowd!!
"Hey Vern, what does 'Exp. 11/01' mean on these here canned tomatoes?"
you will note if you post here a lot or have been around over the years that usually those who pop up socially liberal on the immigration issue are frequently liberal on cultural issues across the board.
Conervatism to them is about taxes and defense.
the "what culture war?" crowd
and they race bait every chance they get...which used to give them legs on immigration arguments but now they are fumbling for new rationalizations for their treachery
please Daniac...you can do better than the tinfoil defense
Rewarding CRIMINAL behavior with a "path to citizenship" should be no part of this debate. It'd only give them even more incentive to break the laws they are already ignoring.
And this would differ from "Kool-aid drinker" or "Bushbot" in what manner? (everyone watch as the smoke rises from their ears!)
H-Y-P...
O-C-R...
...and an I-T-E. Hypocrite! Hypocrite!!
Dang, it really sucks when someone uses your own bunker tactics against you, and it takes you forty plus posts to figger it out, huh?!? LOL!!!
Uh I didn't post the tin foil reply, you did.
And if they vote for anything resembling the House Bill they can kiss power goodbye.
Look, let's be realistic here, this is a LOSE/LOSE proposition for Republicans. THey pass the Senate version they lose the right wing base. They pass the House version and they lose the moderate center.
The only thing they can do is find a compromise that keeps the new penalties in place, but allows those already in the country to apply for guest worker status. Anyone who cannot see that is either blind, a moron, or so stuck on thier position that they don't give a damn about keeping control of anything.
Man, this whole issue is like blood in the water and sharks on all sides. The first and foremost thing to do is build a border wall, if we could get that done, then the other stuff should and can be addressed. I hope Frist's bill includes some sort of border fencing/physical detraction. My husband recommended putting Rottweilers and Pit Bulls all across the southern border. Maybe that would be much cheaper than fences - guard dogs!
"1,390,690 27%"
Meaning that 83% are to the left of "conservative" in Illinois?
Come on, dude. Just come out with it. If we ain't xenophobes, then we ain't konservativz!
"If we ain't xenophobes"
That didn't take long.
Thanks---
I thought about that. That's why they print out larger than a normal bill, have odd colors in the seals and specifically say that they are ILlegal tender and are for "uno hundred dolls" and have no official US seals.
Two of our three local grocery stores have been selling very similar looking 'bills' for non-political, joke purposes for a couple of years with no problems.
I wanted them to look close enough to get the politicians assistants to look at them closer when they opened the envelopes. If they look totally fake, then they will go in the trash without a second glance.
You may be right, but for now, I'll risk it. I may get paranoid and change them though... I've already done a version in purple.
If someone wants to pass them, they would be much more successful at it by scanning a bill and printing it out the right size without any graphics alterations. They could do it in ten minutes at the public library.
My Letter to my Senator. (one of many lately on this topic)
Dear Senator
Our Country is a country of Immigrants as you well know. But the current ILLEGAL immigration problem, and our problems on our southern borders, especially in a time of war is unacceptable.
I urge you to support any plan that does the following.
1. Punishes Illegals for breaking the law.
2. Harshly punishes ANY employer who does not verify the legal citizenship status of someone in their employment (I have to go throught this leapex, and I, like you, am a Marine. I don't see why I should be made to prove my citizenship and some maggot from another country doesn't)
3. Ends the Anchor baby practice
4. Ends ALL government handouts, including medical care (all of it) for Illegals.
5. Beef up our security on our southern border including a wall if necessary.
6. Immediately implement a plan to round up and deport back to their home countries, any and all illegal immigrants.
7. Do NOT allow any illegal currently in country to stay here under any kind of guest worker, amnesty or whatever kind of plan. Send them home and let them come back in legally. There are provisions for that.
Senator, I urge you strongly to work towards these goals. This is no longer just a jobs issue. This is now a National Security issue and we WILL hold you and the rest of the Republican Party directly responsible for failure to act on these points. The American People are fed up with the lack of action by our elected representatives. The House and the Senate work for US, WE the People.
The House and The Senate had better start acting like it.
Semper Fi
And say, could one of you fine chaps emerge from your bunkers long enough to tell me something. If you're so against "the man" and government as a general rule, why are your likes always the first to run crying to the mod-e-ra-torz??
Stayed up too late last night. Meant 73%.
