Boehner hints a back down on 'amnesty'
The Washington Times ^ | March 29, 2006 | Charles hurt

Posted on 03/29/2006 7:15:28 AM PST by surely_you_jest

House Majority Leader John A. Boehner refused yesterday to rule out compromising with the Senate to expand the House border security bill to include a guest-worker program or provisions that opponents call "amnesty." "Let's wait and see what the Senate can produce," he told reporters yesterday when asked whether House Republicans would reject the Senate Judiciary Committee's proposal to allow the estimated 12 million illegal aliens now in the U.S. to seek citizenship after paying a fine.

ICE should be swooping in on these protests and be processing deportations on the spot.

and the surge of people who will attempt to get here in the short term - so they can be "grandfathered" in if this passes - will make the Mariel boat lift look like a line at disney world.

You freepers who live in the southern border states, its going to be hell for you.

Maybe if you stopped hopping around like a deranged ferret and answered a question or too, your position wouldn't be so ambiguous.

However, from your insults towards those who do not want an amnesty, it can be assumed that you endorse an amnesty program for those who have broken out laws in their entry into the US. This, by definition, makes you a pro-open borders advocate. Since you apparently don't like us denigrating an amnesty for those who have already broken the laws, then you must approve of those laws being broken.

How is my characterization of your position wrong?

Not that I think you'll give a cogent reply. You seem more intent on keeping the flame war going than in actually saying anything substantive.

"as if the fact that they are not legal residents automatically mandates expulsion as the only option which demonstrates respect for the law. To be frank, this is absurd and idiotic."

Actually this is not the only option. Most illegals I have talked to return to Mexico about every 18 months for various reasons. A wall that prevents ingress but not egress would solve the vast majority of the problem in a three or four year time frame.

This is what I wrote and there's no way a person with an IQ over 70 could figure I said the U.S. wasn't settled by immigrants:I am sick to death of hearing that

And the people who came over on this boat(Mayflower).

didn't according to your liberal historical revisionism, come over on that boat, but sprang up from the ground in modern day Plymouth, Massachusetts.

Keep toting the party line. Look at what it's gotten you so far.

Well, I actually don't have a party. But of course you bunker brigade boys assume that anyone who don't bitch and moan incessantly is a Kool-aid drinkin' Pubbie Bushbot. So I'll play along, because the entertainment value of this hysterical thread is precious.

Lessee, what have I gotten since Dubya's election in 2000?

Gosh, you're right. There's no difference between the Republicans and the Demo... [choke] ... [chortle]... bwahahahaaaaaa!!!!!!

Sorry, I couldn't keep a straight face typing that drivel.

I am not sure if any kind of compromise can be crafted - people are all over the place on this issue, and there isn't alot of honest debate taking place - its all clouded by the screams of "racism".

at this point - the status quo is preferable. even the AFL-CIO broke with the Dems today over this.
