House Majority Leader John A. Boehner refused yesterday to rule out compromising with the Senate to expand the House border security bill to include a guest-worker program or provisions that opponents call "amnesty." "Let's wait and see what the Senate can produce," he told reporters yesterday when asked whether House Republicans would reject the Senate Judiciary Committee's proposal to allow the estimated 12 million illegal aliens now in the U.S. to seek citizenship after paying a fine.

Did Bear-Stearns do a census?
Not at all. Never mentioned you by name.
What's going on? I don't get what onyx forget.
Why is everyone fighting?
We're all spending waaaay more time fighting each other than the Democrats and it's giving me a headache.
Fact is, no one knows the actual number. That's kinda the point.
As long as they obey the law, pay taxes, and don't try to vote, I am ok with it.
What I DO not like is illegals coming over the border and then getting involved in drug selling, theft, etc. I also don't like employers hiring illegals at less than a fair wage for Americans and avoiding taxes. And I REALLY hate the coyotes who exploit desperate people and take their money and then abandon them in the desert.
If we could get this under control, we could get some workers who would contribute to the tax base, cut down on the gangs and drug trade, and improve national security.
Sensennbrenner on H&C now disputing the charges of the felony portion of his bill, and doing a darn good job of it, by the way.
The Census Bureau says 8-9 million.
Like the illegals are going to line up to give personal information to an agent of the US Government.
Get real.
I don't get it all either. If it's such a big problem, surely more than one or two Congresscritters would have the cajones to tell it like it is. The only one I can think of, Tancredo, who has talked as though illegal immigration was as bad as a terrorist attack, also talked quite illogically about bombing mecca so I don't really take him all that seriously.
You must live in some fantasyland where large adjoining countries build Berlin Walls.
If you eat any fresh vegetables between November and March you might want to reconsider your wish. Fruits, too, for that matter.
It must be sweet to live in a simplistic world where a single magical act has just one effect and no other ramifications.
He was, wasn't he?
He's one of the most earnest, brightest, most principled men in Washington.
I asked some questions about your comments that Clinton did a better job handling companies hiring illegals than President Bush.
I'd be interesting in some back up on that; it doesn't even have to be a link but some answers to my questions posted above would be nice.
In the interim, I have to leave for a while but will check in again.
Or Bear Stearns.
Got some to share? I have to leave for a little bit, but I will return!
So you contend that illegal immigration is needed in order for Americans to have fruits and vegetables? You're selling the American people short.
They didn't claim to get their data from the illegals themselves.
BS. There have been several major busts at meatpacking plants.
Selective memory doesn't cut it.
I believe that last year we apprehended something like 600,000 illegals. Using the conventional math of the Border Patrol, that means that something like 1,200,000 got through.
And Bush hasn't just done nothing, he's made it worse. His last amnesty/guest worker proposal caused a huge increase in the number of illegals, and Bush's people put the screws on the Border Patrol to prevent them from even talking about it.
From day one, Bush has been talking nonsense about "family values don't stop at the Rio Grande" and the need to import millions of foreigners to do the "jobs Americans won't do" and the need to have a "humane" immigration system. And each time he opens his mouth along these lines, thousands more head north. If Bush really wanted to stop illegal immigration, we'd have a wall along the border with Mexico by now.
Right, I need to weed through all your junk? LOL!
