We bring before You our brother in Christ, President Bush, knowing that this was a difficult day for him in accepting the resignation of his friend and close advisor, Andy Card. We thank You for the trust and loyalty that Andy has provided during 5 and a half very difficult years, and we pray Your special blessing on him as he seeks Your will for his life outside of government service. We thank You for the integrity and honor of this administration beginning with the integrity and character of the President. We pray that he would continue to seek Your wisdom and guidance as he has from the beginning of his Presidency. We pray that he would make decisions that please You in all areas, and ask that he be given Your divine wisdom in dealing with the growing and darkening illegal immigration issues. Lord, help him to be sensitive to both human needs mandated by Your word, but at the same time do what is right to protect this country. We pray that he would stay deep in Your word and in prayer, and that he would sense Your presence in his life moment by moment and day by day. Bless and protect him, and his family, especially Laura who stands by his side with support and ever deepening love.
We pray as well for our soldiers in harm's way at this hour, asking You to put a hedge around each one of them as they serve and protect this country, and bring freedom and peace to a very dark part of the world. Lord, we pray that the Iraqi government would solidify and strengthen and that our troops would be able to help the Iraq military, and also would be able to find and destroy the terrorists who plague that country. Bless families at home, and heal those who are wounded in body and in spirit, and give them the strength that they need.
We also continue to pray for our nation and for each one of its leaders, federal, state and local. We ask that Your Spirit would move mightily through this land, and that we would be brought as a nation to our knees in prayer, asking You, and You alone for guidance. We thank You that the roots of this nation are in Your laws, and we ask that we might return to those roots as we go forward throughout this still new century. We thank You for Your abundant blessings, recognizing that everything we have is a gift from You. We bring all this before You in the Name of Jesus, who is the Christ, Amen.
Please join us today in prayer for our President, for our troops, and for out nation!
