No it is not.
My answer is to stand at the border and say "Welcome to America, here is your school house where english is spoken". And "This is Old Glory, and we salute it daily".
We need to crank up the assimilation machine that took in far more Italian, German and other immigrants back in the day when the US had no immigration quota whatever.
Unfortunatly the conservative side just wants mexicans to go away, and the left want's them to stay mexican because they think they can keep their vote Democrat.
Neither is a good option for conservatives, who should be more interested in welcoming good Catholic families who don't favor abortion into the Republican/American camp. Instead of balkanizing them like the left want's to do.
Might as well have a conversation with a brick wall. These guys react to a few hundred protesters probably being egged on by their liberal teachers and knee jerkingly think all hispanics act this way.
Mention something like school vouchers that would release all families from the public school stranglehold and you will hear crickets from the reactionaries.
Too many of your pro business "conservatives" do not have any idea about history. It took two generations plus immigration being cut down dramatically for 50 years to have full assimilation, and it was in the days before the welfare state and multi culturalism. I say this needs to be stopped now, and all attempts to reverse this madness need to be made.
As for good Catholic familes, just go though any barrio, and you will see they are hardly bastions of family values. Church attendence among Latinos is around 15%, and of that 15%, many are spoon fed Liberation Theology.
Narby, like other "conservatives" of your ilk, your ideas are not just wrong, they are dangerous.
'Good' Catholic families don't break the law.
We have never seen rates of legal immigration that compare to the current rate of ILLEGAL immigration. By conservative estimates, the current rate is over 1 million per year.
I'm assuming you're a Latino and Catholic? Maybe you can explain why the Catholic Church is in favor of breaking U.S. law.
