CONAKRY, Guinea (Reuters) -- Environmental group Greenpeace said on Tuesday it had helped authorities in Guinea arrest a Chinese vessel fishing illegally off its coast as part of a crackdown on "pirate" fishermen plundering West African waters.
Greenpeace has said it detected almost 20 foreign vessels during the past 10 days operating without a license off West Africa -- where many poor countries lack the resources to tackle illegal fishing.

Never thought I would root for Greenpeace, but they finally seem to have done something worthwhile for a change.
that is what i thought too. i don't mind seeing something like this. :)
I wonder how long before someone shoots a few of them and they start screaming to the Navy or Coast Guard for help.
Who are these criminals to assume this role. Screw Greenpeace.
OK, I'm going to type something I will probably never type again as long as I live...
Wow... I think I need some fresh air after that...
Greenpeace at war with China. This ought to be good.
That's what I was thinking too. Who the hell does Greenpeace think it is being vigilante's? If some pirate sinks them, too bad.
I wonder if China has developed a sense of humor about such matters.
They seem to have done reasonably well in their naval war with the French.
Wow... I think I need some fresh air after that...
At first glance, it sounds like a noble effort. However, whenever I hear about some communist organization "doing good", I read the entire article.
"The captain of the Lian Run -- one of several Chinese vessels observed in the area -- said his documentation had been registered in the Spanish island of Las Palmas, off West Africa.
So, the ship was duly registered to fish in West African waters.
"Greenpeace said boxes found on board the vessel bore the names of seven other fishing ships, suggesting licensed boats were using the Lian Run No. 14 to bolster their own catches".
If the Lian Run No. 14 and the other seven fishing boats were all licensed to fish there, where is the piracy?
Let me get this straight - Greenpeace is the same group of left wing kooks that denounce private people in the United States enforcing immigration laws, but they have no problem helping to bring in "pirate" fishermen?
Since it's off the African coast, I'm guessing a lot of these people are black (and a lot of Greenpeace is white kids.)Sounds like racism to me....
OK, good point. When will I learn not to ever trust the premise of an MSM article?
*sigh*
I noticed none of the fishermen they turned in were French.
I wonder what would happen if the Green Peace vessel was boarded on a drug search?
LOL!!!!!!! now that would be worth getting a video of!!!
Greenpeace has the right to "report" but not the right to interfere in these matters. It's all covered by laws and treaties. For all we know, these fisherman are from a little village and their people are starving except for the fish.
That's ok. Every now and then, they push my buttons and I actually think that they are telling the truth. They never are, though.
