Of particular interest to L.A. taxpayers are these assurances from the school district:
And this:
The Los Angeles Times reports:
As of midafternoon, more than 22,000 students had walked out of classes in "little bits here and there," according to Ellen Morgan, spokesperson for the Los Angeles Unified School District. A total of 60 schools were involved. Many students waved Mexican flags as they poured out of schools and onto city streets.
"Everything has been calm and there have been no reports of injuries or incidents," said Morgan.
The major walkouts were:
Kennedy High School in the San Fernando Valley, where 1,000 students marched toward San Fernando High School, at about 9:35 a.m.
At about 9:00 a.m., 1,000 students at Los Angeles High School at 4650 West Olympic Boulevard walked to Fairfax and Hollywood high schools, which were both locked down.
School police patrol cars stopped traffic as students walked down the streets, causing traffic jams along La Brea and Melrose avenues.
"If this law passes, what will happen? There would be no more Los Angeles High School. Nearly all of us are immigrants," said Yadira Pech, a 16-year-old junior from Los Angeles High.
"We need to show that we have a voice," Pech said.
Also about 9:30 a.m., 1,000 students from Belmont High School were marching toward City Hall downtown. Fifteen minutes later, LAPD officers estimated that the crowd downtown had grown to 1,500. Protesters waved flags and signs and chanted, "Latinos, stand up!"
"This is unjust. This land used to belong to us and now they're trying to kick us out," said Sandra Molina, 16, a junior from Downtown Magnet High School.
Like I said this morning: Welcome to reconquista.
You always are good about calling or writing Phil!
They worry about losing the Mexican vote by doing something about the illegals but are losing their whole 'base' voters over the illegals being 'illegal'!!
But now it seems to me that he (and other politicos of all purported stripe) are simply applying their Rule Number One (Be the electee, not the also-ran).
Bush pretended toughness with his you're with us or with the terrorists bluster, but when real toughness is required to simply enforce the nation's (uh, that would be the United States of America, not Iraq or Afghanistan) borders, he is firm as guacamole.
It doesn't take much weakness to prompt the mobs to hit the streets and engage in beatings and vandalism (news, internet).
There are billions and billions to squander on Medicare waste, fraud and abuse, but not a dime for a decent barrier at our border.
Why bother with x-rays at ports when twenty million simply walked in from the south?
Why continue to harrass and humiliate the millions of U.S. citizens flying commercial airlines when a million illegals a year flow across the porous sham which is our southern sovereignty?
The Republican leadership appears to come into focus as a cynical cartel specializing in lip service, leaving the rank-and-file to "do the work the country club set won't do."
There's not a clear-cut stand on principle to be found--yet.
The leaders have to be shown the way first.
And I'm afraid they are going to be 'shown' with a democrat win in the future. I still support the President, I believe him to be a good man at heart. My Catholic church insists we must help the poor and needy. I don't know how hard it is for them to try to come in legally but they are paying thousands to coyotes to come illegally.
So ya,how many times must an Ex Sansalvadoran soldier/MS-13 type cross over before he can find a job.?
Maybe he was frustrated on his last venture north, when all those Chi Com AK-47's were discovered in China shipping containers.
Maybe he goes south to Venezuela now to get AK-47's from Chavez.
At least he does not leave empty handed.
Once its known for sure that illegals get to stay,
The others, that being extant gangs and Tongs will wade into them.
Koreans and Vietnamese firing from rooftops in L.A. again.
Only thing missing is Snake Plisskin : )
If forcasts are correct, housing bubble bursts.
When that goes, banks and credit institutions will howl at the defaults occuring.
Then landlords will face tenants with no coin
With money pool drying up,addicts, alcholics, gamblers, gun dealers etc will prey upon American citizens next.
How many of the 11 million will be in desperate mode in the next decade?
I lived in northern New Mexico for several years about 20 years ago.
The native New Mexicans settled in the small mountain villages of this area at the time most definitely considered themselves Spanish, not Mexican. They had lived in the area for centuries and were generally of pure Spanish descent, unmixed with Indian blood, and quite proud of it. They looked down on the mestizos who had immigrated comparatively recently from Mexico, and always referred to them as "Mexicans" in contrast to themselves.
Of course, they also looked down on the Anglos, such as myself, the local Indians, all blacks, etc. :)
This may have changed to some extent since, especially in the cities.
With the full cooperation and under the guidance of school officials, students at Montebello High School, violated the U. S. Code, Chapter 1, Sections 7(c), 7(g), 8(a) and 9.
7(C) ~ No other flag or pennant should be placed above or, if on the same level, to the right of the flag of the United States of America, except during church services conducted by naval chaplains at sea, when the church pennant may be flown above the flag during church services for the personnel of the Navy. No person shall display the flag of the United Nations or any other national or international flag equal, above, or in a position of superior prominence or honor to, or in place of, the flag of the United States at any place within the United States or any Territory or possession thereof.
7(G) ~ When flags of two or more nations are displayed, they are to be flown from separate staffs of the same height. The flags should be of approximately equal size. International usage forbids the display of the flag of one nation above that of another nation in time of peace.
8(a) ~ The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.
9 ~ During the ceremony of hoisting or lowering the flag or when the flag is passing in a parade or in review, all persons present except those in uniform should face the flag and stand at attention with the right hand over the heart.
Does this clusterflop look like the respect outlined in the U. S. Code to you? It sure doesn't to me and the thing that's gets my blood boiling is that this behavior is encouraged and facilitated by school officials and teachers.
Notice, this is going on at the front door of the school. Where were the school security guards? Permanently out to lunch, no doubt.
This is just another example of liberal educators teaching their students to disrespect the United States, its people, customs, traditions and laws. And, they get paid good money to do it.
About 2/3 of my new novel is set in New Mexico, (when it's been renamed Nuevo Mexico, after the passage of the "Espanol Solamente" laws.)
This Spanish/Mexican dichotomy is a big part of the plot.
I just received a telephone call from the principal of Montebello High School, Jeff Schwartz.
Mr. Schwartz informed me that the students shown disprespecting the American flag were NOT FROM MONTEBELLO HIGH SCHOOL.
They were from another school. The authorities at Montebello kept their students inside the school to avoid trouble with the dickwads pictured here.
The original press reports failed to mention that the protestors were not Montebello students causing me to believe they were.
