Great point! But you see, when the Mexicans defend their sovereignty, oh they can be very thought... they can be very "macho" about it.... Oh the sanctity of their nation... but when it comes to the U.S. oh, that is different... "we are dealing with "gringos" (idiots, in this case). The United States is a country that is ASHAMED of being what we are... we feel guilty about everything...
The supposed source for the article, The Americas Press Agency, doesn't exist.
btt
The whole dateline gave it away before I read the first sentence. It's not only a fake agency, but it's dated tomorrow. I feel bad now, I though Pub knew it was fake and just didn't tag it with the appropriate alert. As predicted, the thread is now full of questioning comments by the cognitively challenged.
Shucks....those racist Montezumeans
Satire from a blog. Should be moved to Bloggers/Personal.
I am going to watch to see what happens with this article.. it may be interesting who else picks it up...
I knew this was not a true story right off, if Americans acted like that in Mexico they would be shot. Seriously, Mexico has no sense of humor for that type of thing at all.
Dang! Got me excited there. I thought they were all going home.
This is a pretty funny article. But it does bring back memories.
Back when I was in college, I was an Illegal Alien in Spain. I worked in a hotel illegally for 3 months.
-I always spoke Spanish. Unless I was at work & the job required it or my friends wanted to practice their English.
-I never tried to draw attention to myself.
-I did not use any Spanish government social services. (Well, their subway is heavily subsidized by the government and I did take that a few times. You wouldn't want me to drive drunk, would you?)
Isn't it illegal for foreigners in Mexico to become involved in political activity?
Didn't Mexico deport some leftist hippie wannabes a few years back for trying to help that Marxist Subcomandante Marcos?
Satire. Has to be.
By the way, if someone can send me an email showing me how to move this post or delete it, I will be glad to.
Excuse me? Cognitively challenged?
I'll have you know I am way smarter than John Kerry.
Admittedly, I should have said: "this is a joke, right?"
But, although obviously not true, it wasn't actually funny like Onion stuff.
Ask moderator to add [satire] at end of title.
More fun to see if MSM picks it up, tho.
Hmmm...that IS tempting.
Even if this is not satire, I can believe it. How many Americans, who have bought homes in Mexico, have lost them to the federales AFTER the improvements were made? How many Americans had their Jeeps stolen only to turn up in Tijuana and Ensenada?
There's a spam scam going around now to buy property in Costa Rica. 'Come on, gringos, buy some property, fix it up...and then we'll take it away from you.'
They might as well be saying, 'We want to live like you so give us your money!'
BTTT
Well, this may be satire, but actually it's on target, as I pointed out on another thread. As a US citizen I would have a very difficult time owning property or holding a job in Mexico. And if you break their rules you end in Mexican jail pronto, not a nice place to be. No coddling down there.
I think the publish date was supposed to be 4/1/2006!
